| This earthquake was a NOTHING. I wasn't even sure I felt it at all, but of course my Jonothan did since animals are better at sensing those things. We haven't had a strong earthquake in the socal area in about 8 years as far as I recall. (I'm not saying that's a bad thing, though. I realize a lot of people think we're "due" for one soon). I LOVE CA. I was an OC girl born-and-raised, did my undergrad degree on the East Coast, but knew I would come back (and here I am again)! Now I live in West LA, though that's only for law school. If/when I get a chance I'll move back to OC (North OC) or perhaps to San Diego. It's beautiful down there and downtown San Diego is becoming a great area for late 20s/early 30s crowd. To the NY girl, though - I have to admit if there was anyplace else I'd live besides socal, it would be NYC. I have lived in DC, Boston, NYC, and spent a good amount of time in Miami and San Fran, but nothing has my heart the way NYC does (and at least the winters aren't TOO bad compared to some places). However, all of my family is here in socal, and in the end I never did get used to snowy winters. Top thing I miss about NYC: 24-takeout from enough places that you could have ANY type of food from any food-genre whenever you wanted. That is DEF not true even in central parts of Los Angeles (the "busy," more "city"-like parts). Furbabies definitely prefer CA, too. How can they not? After all, they HATE having to wear little winter jackets even more than we do. And Jonothan absolutely loves driving in my convertible with the top down and the wind blowing through his hair. I didn't get Jonothan until I moved back to Cali, but from his visits back East with me, I can tell he prefers good old CA. Anyway - NYC or CA, both great options. Good luck with whatever you decide! (Oh and I realize you didn't say you live in NYC, and may just live in New York state, in which case you should definitely move since it's only NYC that can hold a candle to SoCal. Hee hee). | You got the wrong idea my friend. You don't want to go over people, you want to go around them quick. I drive a Civic Si, 4 cylinder. I have yet to spend $40 in gas, but when driving my dad's V8 truck, YIKES! I spend up to $75. I can't go back to driving automatic, just too boring! I love how I can make the car respond quickly to what I need it to do to get in and out of traffic. If you see a black blurr on the freeway, that was me.

I just prefer warm weather. I've never even tried snowboarding or skiing, even when I lived in states with "real" winter. I really should try, though, shouldn't I? Maybe we should get a yorkie-group together to go to Mammoth or Big Bear with our fur-babies so that they can stay inside and keep each other company while we go out?

| Hey Cali is great! Ive never been to NY before but judging by the movies, NY takes city to a whole nother level lol. I cannot say that Cali is inexpensive because it definatly can cost you some money to rent an apartment out here depending on where you choose to live, i have know idea where the cheapest places to live out here are but i can imgain they are cheaper the smaller the city.. however that may not be too accurate. I will say that traffic is bad out here, but its probably not as bad as it seems to be in NY. But it does stay sunny out here for the most part, but we dont have rain at times. There are a lot of nice scenic places out here and yea you may like it. One las thing tho, ive heard of some NY people who dont like the people out here compared to the people where they live. so i guess if you dont like us be for warned lol |

| That just made me laugh! Maybe that's why the Tennesseans weren't so happy to see me?

| In that case, you'll do great in Cali! My brother is the true road warrior. He has a big tuck and is able to drive it like his two seater roadster. He makes that thing fit everywhere! If only I had his skills *sigh*

I spent my freshman year of college at Pepperdine in Malibu where I did a lot of sidewalk driving . Luckily, I was the provost's pet so I got away with it. There were too many beautiful people in California, so I went back to Chicago where everyone is average.

| My mother lived in Santa Monica in a rent control apartment for many years. The weather was beautiful year round and I think that made everyone happy. I visited her often and always walked down to the beach. I love the LA area, especially Santa Monica.
