Thinking of moving to California Does anyone here live in California, and in what part? I have lived in New York my whole life but am thinking of going to California. I have never been there before but I do want to visit first to see how it is. I don't know if I want to live there perminently but maybe for a few months. I do think I will like it as I love sunny weather all the time(unlike ny) and nature. I also like city life but I feel like here in NY it stresses me out and it's too crowded, dirty, noisy. So anyway for those that live in Cali can anyone recommend places for me to visit? If I like it I would drop everything, take my babies and go. I'm a little tired of NY-well for now at least. I do want to visit LA. I know it's expensive to live there...but are there any affordable places for a young person like me that obv. can't afford a ton on rent? |
If you stay on to coastal side of CA. the weather is so much better than inland, and green too. LA is affordable for anyone, but you should find which area is the most safe. There are way too many things to see and do here in CA. to even try and put in writing. Just look it up on the net and find out from City to City what they offer. ;) |
If I could move to San Diego tomorrow, I WOULD!!! |

I moved to L A back in the 70's and loved it. My husband couldn't find a job so he wanted to move back after 3 months. I have always regretted it. We have been looking at Arizona and have made 4 trips there in the past year to check out different areas. Now we are thinking of checking out California again. If we go I will let you know what areas we looked at. We found you have to make several visits to each area to see if you want to make the move. It is so much easier to move when you are young. I think the website is city-data.com and it gives you a lot of info on cities you are interested in. |

Another New Yorker here that plans on moving to California. I visit San Francisco at least twice a year...LOVE IT. 2008 business took me there six times. I would also move to San Diego tomorrow if I could. |
San Diego is pretty affordable now a days with all the foreclosures and is alot of fun - you have the beach there and alot to do If you want the warm weather you need to stick to southern cali as northern is cooler and more rainy than southern. San Diego is a college town due to UCSD and San Diego State so jobs are harder to come by there due to all the people graduating from college wanting to stay and live there as it is so nice. The closer to the beach the more expensive usually so are you looking for a beach atmosphere Are you single as that makes a big difference too as some areas like Marina Del Rey, Hermosa Beach, Santa Monica are more fun if you are single as there is alot to do there and places to go out Hey i think you all need to get a Yorkie Pad and live together lollll It is tough here for jobs though right now ask away and we can try to answer some questions you may have |
I live in downtown LA, but in a not such a good part of town. They are completely renovating downtown (like near Staples center) to make it as fancy as Times Square (or so they say). It's crazy expensive to live down there though. There are very lovely places that you can live in like Torrance, Irvine (I love Irvine), Glendale, and on. It just depends what you look for in a neighborhood. |

I love Irvine and it's surrounding cities. Basically anywhere in Orange County (just south of LA). San Diego is also a great city, as is San Francisco (about 6 hours North of LA). The East Bay (cities across the bay from San Francisco) are nice too. Although it's warmer in Southern California, Cali has pretty mild weather all year long. My friend moved here from Philly and she's originally from NYC. Had to go back to return to Philly for her job and she misses Cali so much! Come visit, there's so much to see and do. You'll probably have to make a few trips to check it all out. Good luck! |
Orange County has a great group of yorkie gals that do yorkie meetups every month and everyone is meeting down in Newport Beach area this weekend for a huge event there so there are alot of people for you to meet there right off the bat and friends for your yorks too. |

I would move if you love spending time stuck in traffic. I moved to texas from Los Angeles and don't plan on going back. Life goes by so fast. Well I didn't have a life at all. Work, work, home work, home and every day the same story. There is even traffic on the weekend. |
