| ![]() I swear by my CHI but my hair stylist recommended the Croc. When I googled it, it was way too expensive.

| ![]() I just came back from the hairdresser's and had the Keratine treatment done. I have to wait 72 hours before I can wash my hair so I won't really know the true results until then. But so far, my hair is soft and silky and straight and I can't wait to see the 4th day result.

YT Addict | ![]() First of all, get off the CHI high horse. IT IS A CRAP STRAIGHTENER! I worked in salon retail sales for 2 years, and worked in beauty supply place for a 1 year after that. Let me tell you how crappy the chi really is! The most terribly made thing I have ever seen in my LIFE (so many returns!), AND! the plates are COATED! it's not even REAL through and through! the claims they make are FALSE!!! I urge you to do your homework, ignore labels, and go for QUALITY. Keratine is amazing for your hair- there are shampoos and conditioners that are focused on having human hair keratin in their products. Again, CHECK LABELS. A lot of products have it in their ingredients, but it's so far down the list...forget it. One line that uses it quite far up the list is L'Anza. They are from California, and I know you can get it in Canada- so it should be available just about everywhere. They aren't "top of the line" in terms of price or brand label (like Pureology for example) but they are a really REALLY good product. They have higher end stuff as well-- and if you WANT AN AMAZING HAIR REPAIR BY THEM! get TRAUMA TREATMENT. Hands down I would recommend that to ANYone no matter what they use (L'oreal Professional, Pureology Nanoworks stuff (great btw, but only if you have thicker damaged hair) etc... The keratin in that product is way up there, and it's so thin that you can use on fine or thick hair... It's a leave-in and it's just a must have at your place no matter what. Quote:
I have a Paul brown Straightener, which cost me $400 plus tax about 6 years ago!! Guess what... I still HAVE IT! There a lot of knock offs, and they are just as good from what I've seen/sold. Paul Brown had the right idea back then, trust me. A lot of lines came out with nano technology (isn't everything nano these days? lol) and titanium (for those who wanted the cheaper metal-type straightener that won't wreck your hair like the old kinds of straighteners) so just check out QUALITY, before you care about a label! and that goes with EVERYTHING in hair care. you ever want advice on that stuff- talk to me ![]()

Now...I have thick curly hair and I live humidity central...Florida! I've put the CHI to the test time and time again and it works just fine. Just like anything else out there, I'm sure there are lots of better products which you are more than welcome to recommend without putting down others' opinions.

I replied to this thread earlier but have no idea what happened to my response! LOL I have a chi turbo, it's over 2 years ago. Ive never had a problem with it, my salon is happy with them but my stylist did tell me to get a GHD when/if my CHI dies. I hope not for awhile though. I know that the CHI has zigzag heating elements so the plates don't heat as evenly as a GHD that has a screening under the plates that make the plates heat evenly. I have done the Keretin treatment. I paid $150 for my shoulder length, very thick, very kinky curly hair. It did NOTHING for me. Be careful where you go for the treatment. Its expensive so make sure you get the treatment that STRAIGHTENS. I had NO idea that there is are different types of treatments, one called Brazilian Keretin Treatment and another called the Brazilian Blowout, which relaxes but does not straighten. It did nothing for my hair, it was supposed to take the frizz out, but it did not, at least not enough to have it done again. I will get the Keretin straitening treatment done one time at least though to try it and see the results. John Coppola treatment is a good one that should straighten your hair. I do use Pureology shampoo and conditioner since the treatment I got because you have to use sulfate free stuff to lengthen the time the product stays in your hair. Pureology is ok, but I don't like the smell much. Anyways, good luck with your GHD. I think you will be very happy with it. ![]()

anyway I'm sorry I came off like that but when it comes to hair care products, I get really excited. I didn't mean it in a mean way! but in the "please don't buy s**t for yourself" way. I just want the best for you guys and your hair-- and sorry that you guys find the CHI some amazing product, when I have seen hands down how s**t quality it is. If you want to use coated plates for your hair- go right ahead. no one's stopping you, but it's not the best for your hair! and maybe you wouldn't need to spend all this money on keratin treatments at the salon (wtf $150? I've seen the same treatment sold at salons for $40! and high end salons...but ANYWAY) you right ahead! but if you had the right product (straightener, hair care line, etc) , you probably wouldn't have the problems that you do. trust me. not centering you out- that goes for all of you.

i love pureology, have you smelled nanoworks? that stuff smells sooooo good. it doesn't smell like the organic type smells that the other stuff does. it's amazing for your hair! well worth the money, IMO. It's gold labelled for a reason ![]() Thinking of Pureology, I really love a lot of Aveda stuff. then again I like a few things from this line and that, and every line has a crap product they try to push on you. lol how do you guys feel about Abba? less costly, and some of their products are nice! and they are also all sulfate free for the most part

![]() I've spent hundreds of dollars on my hair treatments in the past. It doesn't matter how great an iron I use, I live in Florida where most of our days are filled with humidity and even the most expensive iron won't help. Speaking from experience sister...only chemicals can help hair like mine. So really, the bottom line is that just because an iron costs $400, it doesn't mean it can work miracles. That's all I think I have to share on the matter...G'nite ![]()

Mind you, if you think I'm throwing around money- I make minimum wage doing what I love, and someday all this experience will chalk up to a full time position making double... *crosses fingers* lol It isn't much. Sorry to hear you feel your hair is hopeless- maybe you need a new stylist ![]() anyway good night. I know that because I live in Canada, you think I don't understand hair.

| ![]() Ive got a Jose Eber hair straightner and It's pretty good. I've had it for a hair and a half and still happy with it. I hear the titanium ones are not good for your hair. |

I paid $28 for my pureology shampoo and $27 for my conditioner. They are no bigger than a regular size bottle of suave or something. That is too rich for my blood to use all the time. I have such thick curly hair that I need a significant amount of product to get a good lather or good coating. I will look at nanoworks. My hairdresser claims the keratin treatment is still in my hair and to keep using sulfate free, I never saw a difference before or after the treatment for $150. Made me very upset! ![]()
