| I used to own a Double yellowed headed Amazon. I got him when he was 3 weeks old and hand feed him. Sadly when he was 18 years old a raccoon chewed his wing and leg off. His chest had a large amount of it missing to and we had to put him down. It was the saddest day of my life. During the warm weather he loved to be outside in his large cage. We kept it on our front porch. We had put him out for the last 3 years at this house and never had a problem. Sadly I went out in the morning to check on him and he was laying in the bottom of the cage. He said hello PeeWee (his name) and that was when I saw what had happened. I rushed him to the vet but they said the damage was to bad and he needed to be put down. I miss him very much.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | We have a year old, green Quaker parrot named Bonito (pretty boy)....he is a hoot and very smart! He amazes me with how quickly he is learning new words and it's obvious he is learning what he hears most....."Whadda ya doin'" is one of his favorite phrases. But he also, whistles the Andy Griffith theme song, calls Louis and Scout by their names, tells himself nightie night and of course wolf whistles

| We have 2 cockatiels, Fiona and Jasper, 2 years old, and 2 lineolated parakeets, Pheonix and Ivy, 1 year old. I'm truly missing my sun conure who was just a joy! But so LOUD! He's with a trusted friend since I work a lot from home. He couldn't be trusted when I was on conference calls. He thought he needed to express his opinions too! I was reading that we can give the coconut oil to our birds. Have you tried that yet?

| I have 2 feathered buddies I have 2 mealy amazons. My 1st one I saved from a house of rotten children who would beat the cage to quiet her. Her name is shana, when I got her she hated everyone, but I eventually one her over. Then I got JJ from a birdy petshop, she was tube fed too often on one side and has a very crooked beak, she needs to go to the vet 2-3x a year to grind the beak down on the sides, so it doesn't accidently break which could cause major issues, like starving to death. Shana doesn't talk, and JJ laughs, does different sounds and says a few words. Their favorite thing to do is bath time, either in the bathtub, outside hose, or even spray bottle. JJ actually hangs upside and sticks her head in her water dish, she is a monkey. |

| I have an African Grey, Boogie, she's now 9 yrs old and got her when she was just 10 mths old. She came first, so she ruled the roost until the Yorkies started coming in. That was 6 yrs ago. She speaks quite a lot, barks like the yorks, then she'll say ''Chut'' be quiet. Imitates the phone, will actually carry on a conversation; hello how are you, is that so, goodby. Or she'll sing whathever caught her fancy on the radio that day. Our dogs slowly got used to not chasing her when she flew off and generally tolerate her when she is walking around on the floor. So all in all, it's been a good experience and would never give any of them up for anything.

| Yes, they were around 4 months old when we bought them . . .They mimick a lot! They whistle Jingle Bells . . .ALL YEAR LONG! And they know the tune from the Wizard of Oz "If I only had a brain" Zazu is the smarter one . . .he repeats what you say to him. . .every morning he says "what's goin' on Zubazu" (that is his nick name) he says "baby biiiird" "have a good day" and then there are times where he goes on and on and we have no clue what he is saying . . . They both say "step up" and just like our furbabies they know words and get excited over things. . .all you have to say is either wanna bath or want chips? and they freak out . . .lol
