I used to own a Double yellowed headed Amazon. I got him when he was 3 weeks old and hand feed him. Sadly when he was 18 years old a raccoon chewed his wing and leg off. His chest had a large amount of it missing to and we had to put him down. It was the saddest day of my life. During the warm weather he loved to be outside in his large cage. We kept it on our front porch. We had put him out for the last 3 years at this house and never had a problem. Sadly I went out in the morning to check on him and he was laying in the bottom of the cage. He said hello PeeWee (his name) and that was when I saw what had happened. I rushed him to the vet but they said the damage was to bad and he needed to be put down. I miss him very much. |
