A little trick with Macs when you are getting used to them...if you don't know how to do something, first think of how it would make sense to you even if that's not how it's done on a PC and then try it.

I know you wrote that you have signed up for classes -- another great resource is "The Missing Manual" available at Amazon -- there are versions for OS X Leopard and Snow Leopard, depending on which one you have. The books contains all of the essentials as well as advanced tips and tricks. Best of all, the book is the best written, well-arranged computer book I have ever read.

I just had to come back to this thread and let you know that I ordered this book and it arrived earlier in the week. I can't thank you enough for recommending it - it is terrific!!! It's thorough and yet written in a way I can understand. I will be using it a lot. Thanks again!

I know you're going to be having all those great classes but this book would be handy to have when you have a mind blank, or haven't learned how to do something yet. I think it's already been worth every penny I spent (I got it for less than $10 on Amazon).

$10!? Are you sure you won't be my personal shopper? Do you think you could find the Ally McBeal complete DVD series for me for half price or less?

I'm glad you like the book and found it useful. It is the only computer book that I haven't wanted to chuck across the room. Most manuals are so convoluted and waste more time telling you what they are going to teach you and then they never get around to actually teaching.

Anyway, the computer is a cakewalk compared to your new camera, right?
