Help me choose a laptop...

Having a laptop will also allow me to get on YT in the evening, since
my PC was in the bedroom and tv in the family room, I just never got
on it at night.

I'll probably be getting on more in the evenings, too. I never even got internet service when I moved into my house a couple of years ago because I knew I wouldn't use it with my desktop. I'm trying to promise myself that I won't get online too much in the evenings - I did last night and my babies weren't happy with me at all.

Actually the class was a little bit above me regarding the technocalities
of how the apple works. What can be hooked up, what's compatable
with it, windows 7 etc, so it was not quite what I had hoped for.
However, it is really nice that they offer these classes to the public.
I wanted to see exactally how and what is in the system but you need
to purchase one before they allow you to get that info. That's ok because
it's something to look forward to and I am really excited about it.

I wonder if this is one of the classes I'm signed up for. This is all info I want to know - but I'd like to learn more of the basics of getting around and how to use it first.

I asked my local store about signing up for the annual one-on-one sessions for $99 like you mentioned, but they said I had to buy the computer from them to be eligible for those classes. Hopefully, the free ones and tips from helpful friends (hint, hint) will get me what I need to know.

I'm so excited for you!! Two weeks isn't far at all - but I know it'll feel like forever.

That's a deal! Well, the passing along to me part....I'm not so sure about being able to explain it back again. I've managed to boot mine up and get online for two nights in a row, so I've pretty much mastered most of what I want to do with mine.

Just kidding! But I really do need to start of list of questions - there's so much basic stuff that I have absolutely no idea how to do on the Mac. For example, for those Mac geniuses out there, how do you make the internet window bigger to fit the full screen like mine does in Windows? And I was sending a long pm last night that I wanted to copy first (I'd already lost it once)...but I have no idea how to copy on the Mac (it's just Control+C in Windows). Can anyone help??

On the top left next to the "close" circle, you have minimize and maximize circles also. Is that what you mean? Otherwise, go to the bottom right of the screen, put the cursor on the corner and drag it to make the screen larger.

"Command" is used as "Control."
Right clicking should also work though.

Thanks Crystal! I'm printing out the copy & paste steps now. I'm just using the touchpad on the laptop, so I'm not sure I can right click doing it this way (that's how I usually copy/paste in Windows with my mouse).

Yeah, coping with the touchpad is kinda interesting. It doesn't always work for me. I don't think I have the technique down though.

Clicking and dragging with the touchpad is easy.
If you don't want to do it one handed, just click where you need to and hold the button down with one hand and move your finger over the actual pad in the direction that you want the screen to expand...

Ok I found it. I guess a lot of people googled this same question. There's a download on Apple's website called Safari Stretch 2.0 that will stretch the window to fill the screen. That's the first thing I'm going to do when I get home tonight.

Ok, that sounds easy enough. I'll let you know how it goes when I try it tonight. I googled about enlarging the window and found an Apple download, but also some replies saying to click and drag the diagonal bars in the lower right corner of the window. I don't remember seeing those, but I'm going to try that first before I download anything.

I've been having too much fun playing on the internet in the evenings that I haven't even tried to do anything else yet. I can't imagine the questions I'll have then!

I can't think of anything that you would need to download. It's at the bottom right.

I just can't picture the screen in my mind but I don't remember any diagonal bars, or anything at all in the lower right corner. I get off work in about 45 minutes, so I'll check as soon as I get home.

To make the window fit the screen is the same as in Windows -- pulling the bottom right corner, as Ellie Mae wrote.

Get "The Missing Manual" asap -- you will love it.
