Our Blessings R Many Donating Member | ? Anyone Using magicJack??? Thanks. I hope it's okay to ask this here. I have had so much frustration with our land line service that I decided to disconnect it, thankfully I was able to port our home land line number over to our Verizon cell phone, which I have been very happy with Verizon company and their service. Wish we could have had a choice for land line but where we live there was only one company available I felt un-at-ease just having only one cell phone, our friends suggested magicJack, as they had seen and heard of it on the news. I bought the magicJack today but haven't connected it yet to our computer, was wondering if there is anyone here that has it and what is your opinion? I appreciate comments regarding the above. I felt very sad and dissapointed to have to give up our landline connection and then felt uncomfortable after I did so. With Jack's condition I just want to make sure I have proper phone communication available for us. Thanks to those taking the time to post back to my inquiry, I truely appreciate your input. Thank you again, from us both, Patti and Jack and Girls. |

| my mom has it It would be good if you want for extra phone but, It is not like they advertise. A lot of times when I am talking to my mom we can not have a full conservation. We can only hear a few words of the sentence. I am not a fan of it but it is better then nothing if you cell phone would not work. I would not plan on using it all the time, kind of "get what you pay for" type thing. This is just my opinion |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | HI PATTI ! I too was leery after seeing their commercials - I always get on the net to read reviews for the 'sold on tv' products I read an article the other day that many products sold like that 'jack' are not what they claim - One that did get great reviews was that 'snake' thingie to clear out drains - The article was disgusting to read (guy claimed he pulled what looked like a 'squirrel' out of his drain) but he said out of all the products he's bought.... it actually did what it claimed to do My husband bought one of those 'choppers' off an infomercial (10 bucks to chop veggies) ...and while I threatened to sleep with the credit cards if he did it again - I still have it and it DOES work ! |

| We had the same problem here. We weren't comfortable with just cell phones, but also didn't want to pay a land line bill "just in case." The MagicJack works well for what we want it for (emergencies and long convos that we don't want to use cell phone minutes on). One of the problems with it is that your computer has to be on to use it and a lot of computer techs don't like this idea. Because our computer is on all day anyway, it wasn't a problem for us. We just turn it off at night and depend on our cells. But we could always turn it on within a few minutes. We will definitely be keeping it...

I keep it just in case of a 911 emergency. I will admit that the reception is not always great but the voice mail always works. So as a backup to our cell phones it does the job, and the price is right .

| We disconnected our land line to. We have both Dh and my cell. Don't know what land line service is in your area but we have bellsouth and If you still have the land line into your home you can call 911 from disconnected land line. I left one old phone hooked up just in case. I am afraid to depend on cell for emergency help. no advise on Magic Jack

Our Blessings R Many Donating Member | I did an inquiry on line for tech support with them before connecting the magicJack and they required a charge to get any live support on line?????? I wondered about it some more, haven't opened it yet. Guess I will just return it. I went ahead and bought the tracfone for a back up emergency phone. I wish I was more familiar with what is available in the pre-paid cards, the tracfone I got has a double the minutes lifetime, so that was pretty good, the minutes will be 120 for 90 days for $19.88 plus tax. Just hope the phone is okay.......it looks and is very cheaply made but as long as it is sufficient that is my main goal. Not stuck in a contract with it so can always change after the 90 days if need be. Thanks again everyone for replying back to me, hope you all are having a good day where ever you all are. Going back off line, time to work with Jack on his therapies. From us both, Patti and Jack and Girls. Last edited by Baby Blessing; 01-31-2010 at 05:08 PM. |
