The MagicJack works well for what we want it for (emergencies and long convos that we don't want to use cell phone minutes on).
One of the problems with it is that your computer has to be on to use it and a lot of computer techs don't like this idea. Because our computer is on all day anyway, it wasn't a problem for us. We just turn it off at night and depend on our cells. But we could always turn it on within a few minutes.

I agree.
I keep it just in case of a 911 emergency. I will admit that the reception is not always great but the voice mail always works. So as a backup to our cell phones it does the job, and the price is right
