| Hate Doctors !!!! I hurt my index finger somehow. I don't know how but it hurts. I waited 2 weeks to go the doctor. Yesterday was the day I finally decided to go. I call at 8 am and they give me an appt for 4:30. I was not happy because I knew that the dr would send me for x-rays and it was going to be a bit late in the day. I have 4 kids and a husband and everyone is hungry at that time and I have to get dinner going. Anyway I could not help it so they made grilled chese sandwiches and soup for dinner. I call this afternoon at about 1:15 to see if my results are in from the x-ray. The woman takes my name and crap and says she will find out. So I wait....... until 4:30 I call back and another woman tells me "oh, your doctor isn't in today he will call you tomorrow" WHAT????? I tell her that's not good enough and I need another dr to look at the x-ray report and just tell me if my finger in broken. She tells me that she doesn't have the report from the lab yet. I get the number of the lab and ask them where my results are. She tells me that as per my dr office request they do NOT fax the info to the dr they mail it to them. I am in a bit of pain and I am not waiting for the mail to get to them before I get my results. I am so angry right now. The woman at the dr office said that when "she gets a minute" she will call over there to the lab and have them fax the info to them. I am still waiting. I don't go the the doctor very often. My husband calls me 'Mary Marter" I just go on with my business of raising the kids, and so on with out complaining. I the mom you know we can't get sick or anything. We need to keep going or the house will blow up or something. I finally break down and go because it really hurts and this is what I get. I just want to cry right now. No one cares it's just a finger cut it out stop complaining. Sorry for the rant. I just want to know if it is broken I know they won't do anything for it but I just would like to know.

| i feel you, i was really sick for several months off and on and finally got REALLY sick and the doctors danced around the subject like a bunch of crooks that they are. they tried heartburn meds and they didn't work so i got another appt. and ended up in the hospital because i was dehydrated and sick and my stomach aches were so painful and only in the mornings...(i wasn't pregnant either) the ER doc was an A hole and did a ct scan and had me go for a sonogram of my pelvic region but NOT my tummy. i even asked for the upper stomach because that's what hurt and she said she couldn't drs orders. stupid! so then i'm on a 3 day antibiotic from the ER doc that he only gave to shut me and my mom up and i have a 5000 hospital bill for NOTHING, they claimed it was an unknown pelvic problem. so then i still need help and get to my family doctor finally after trying forever to see him...he does a ton of tests like a stool sample. more blood work, and all this stuff and they NEVER found a thing. i finished the antibiotic the ER doc gave to me and some more of the same thing i had leftover from another time and i got better from them. i forgot to mention before this Dr dance i went to the natropathic doctor, whom i do trust, but he wanted me to take like 200 worth of herbal stuff only he makes and doesn't claim for insurance. and the family dr. had me do another sonogram of my liver and stomach like i'd requested before. it was the WORST dancing around the real problem i've ever experience, but finally i got better off plain old anitbiotics and i've been fine ever since. thank God insurance paid all the bills but 180 of them. and after getting better we got Sadie so i wouldn't be all alone at home while hubby worked because part of me wonders if i just got depressed as a newly wed in a new town and needed company.!? anyways that's my I HATE DOCTORS story...it took forever for all those tests to tell me nothing and to this day no one knows what was wrong with me |

| Not to be mean, but I think they are probably thinking if you waited 2 weeks to see the doctor for it, what's another day? Honestly, if you broke your finger 2 weeks ago, there would already be healing taking place and it is possible they would have to rebreak it to fix it if it wasn't healing right. I know waiting for answers sucks, but I guess I can understand where the doctors office is coming from if you waited that long to be seen. I don't think it has anything to do with it just being a finger.

| The only doctor I see is my OBGYN on a yearly basis . . .I honestly cannot stand doctors! This past January I skipped my period . . .don't know why, just did . . .I took a EPT (I'm 41 by the way and my husband had an operation many years ago after my son was born) but my older sister's were insisting I was pregnant and maybe somehow my husband's operation reversed itself . . . I call my OBGYN and explain what is going on . .. after all, I was just there in October and never ever was late before . . .of course, they send me for a blood pregnancy test, which comes back negative . . .DUH! So then late February I get my period finally, but it doesn't stop . . .after 2 straight weeks, again, I call my doctor . . .he said "well, I can't do anything to stop the bleeding" Ummmmm hello . . .I'm like dying over here and it doesn't show signs of stopping . . .and it didn't . . .he says well maybe you are going to start having abnormal periods now because of your age and you may be pre-menepausal . . .OK . . .but I'm still bleeding . . .and I don't mean just regular bleeding, I mean OMG I'm going to die bleeding . . .gushing (sorry I know its gross) Finally, and I mean finally, he sets me up for a D&C (April 7th) needless to say I started bleeding February 26th . . .and you know what I had to do?? Get ANOTHER blood work up for pregnancy (just to make sure I wasn't having a miscarriage) Oh and I had to go get an internal ultrasound (which by the way is nasty) to see if there were any cysts, masses, etc . . .NOTHING . .. just blood . . .I have the D&C and he did a tissue sample and it came out with nothing . . .Soooooo why did I bleed like a monsoon? Who knows? Since my D&C my periods are still weird . ..a lot shorter, but not back to normal before I started that entire episode . . .and now that I started back exercising . .I'm already a week late . . .I can't even tell you what is going through my mind right now, I'm just hoping I don't ever repeat what I experienced in February - April. So I feel your pain . . .I really dislike doctors, because after all, they are no better than you or me . . all they can come up with is a hypothesis and try different things . . .

I had to have an internal ultra sound about a year ago it was miserable! I just randomly started having pain while having sex (we finally figured out that it was while I was ovulating), But for it they wanted me to drink 40oz of water in an hour, that's more water than I usually drink in an entier day, so when I do drink like that I have to pee like crazy but wasn't aloud to. By the time I finally got it done I was nauseaus because I had to pee sooo bad. He then left the room for like 15-20 min with the thing propped inside of me resting right on my bladder I was in tears when he got back and he didn't understand why. GRRRRRR.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Well, one of our favorite jokes in Nursing school was "What do you call the person who graduated at the bottom of their Medical School class?" -- "A Doctor" . I am SUPER ridiculously picky about my physicians - I'm a nurse, my sister is a doctor, her husband is a doctor...so, medical stuff in our family is often discussed, as is "care". When me and hubby moved to AZ, it took me FIVE docs until I found an internist with whom I thought did a good job for my healthcare. Her staff is responsive, she is responsive, and she is sharp. This doc you went to, was it your regular doc or a new one? I find that if you have to go to someone (urgently) who is not your regular doc, the level of care can nosedive. Do you have a regular internist who you see as your main doc? If yes, call their office - and ask them if they can obtain your results STAT for you and then get back to you right away. It can be a real pain in the butt (or finger! ) - but if you have a regular physician, it can help sometimes. If this WAS your regular physician in the first place, then I'd switch if it were me. Hope you are feeling better. Finger injuries are very painful!

| Thank you for careing. It was my regular doctor. I call him a "pill pusher" He just refills prescriptions. I have been on this medication for about 2 years and I know one of the effects of it is to the liver. He never ever sent me for bloodwork to check anything. I am 48 and he never even mentioned cholesterol checking. When I asked for a prescription for a mamagram the nurse told me that I need to get that from my ob/gyn. He is an internest I don't get it. He didn't even mention the flu shot. I mainly went to him for the finger but I figured while I was there I would get my prescription . He never even touched me. No bp, no listen to the chest thingy, nothing, Just gave me the script and said have a nice day. My parents had a doctor like this who just rewrote prescription after prescription. Thank goodness they found a good doctor who really saved them many times. It is just like the babies you have to weed out the bad doctors, groomers everything before you find one you really like. Like I said before I really don't go to the doctor much just to get these stupid pills. If it had been the babies I would have been waiting outside the vet for them to open, ya know. We will see if thery call me today..............

| Just wanted to update: The dr's office called this afternoon at about 2:30 and told me my finger is not broken. So I ask the woman what happens next. (you know because it still hurts) she says well make another appointment to see the dr and then he will tell you. WHAT??? another co pay for him to tell me it might just be arthritis take an aspirin. I don't think so. She said, "well x-rays only show bones" Really because I didn't know that (idiot) What if it is ligament damage? I am not going to the dr 50 times to figure out what is is. He already knows it hurts he sent me for an x-ray now what is the next course of action. I don't need to see him again. I think I might just go to a hand specialist. I told you they are jerks. Did she honestly think that I was just going to say, "oh ok it's not broken thank you bye"?? In a way I wish it was broken because then I know the pain will eventually go away when it heals. But now I don't know what. I was emptying the dishwasher and I can't even hold a bunch of silverware with that hand. Am I just supposed to live like this for the rest of my life??

I fully believe there are certain doc specialties that don't get paid fairly, but then there are other specialists who I think are paid absolutely RIDICULOUS salaries.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Oh yes. There are soooo many docs who have a sense of entitlement to a certain amount of money, and LOTS of control - and until they let go of that to a certain extent - it does not help the population-at-large's health care, it hurts it . Until caring for our health STOPS being profit-oriented, we're all going to suffer for it.
