| ![]() I'm so sorry you are faced with this heart wrenching decision....the only thing i can say is something that a vet once told me when i asked the question of "how do you know"...they told me to judge the quality of their life....if there is none, then it is time to let them go... ![]()

| ![]() I think that is the best way to determine the time to let go. We just had to put our Great Pyrenees down about 3 wks ago and she was to the point where it was time and my ex-husband who was with her, in another state, put his cell phone up to her ear so I could tell her goodbye. I know she heard me and I knew she was ready because he said her eyes were fluttering when I was talking to her and before that, she was only breathing very shallow and no movement at all. Trust your hearts, you will know when. I truly feel for you, you and your husband are in my prayers.

My brother and his family came down to say their good-byes Thursday evening. I sat in my car Friday morning with Charlie and cried. I couldnt even start my car because I began to doubt my decision. When I looked in Charlie's eyes and he looked at mine, I know in my heart I was making the right decision. Like Vicky said, Your heart will know. And I did know. I took him out there and I held him, during and after. It was the hardest thing I had EVER done in my life. It broke my heart, it still breaks my heart and continues to break my heart when I think about it. Even tho I knew it was right, it did not make it hurt any less. It felt like my heart was ripped out. My hurt will heal over time but his hurt was not healing. It was not fair to him to keep him that way. He was no longer able to do the things he enjoyed. As you said, it is ultimately your decision. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

| ![]() As everyone has said "you will know" is true I had to put Queenie down last July and I could see in her eyes that she had enough. Your Vet will be able to help too. I found the people on YT are so helpful. I don't know what I would have done without them, as a lot of people just say it's only a dog why are you so upset. But we on YT understand and my prayers are with you and your family.

| ![]() Bless your heart. You did the right thing for your boy. He had a great life with you. I know it is hard to make this decision as I had to make it many years ago. To put them at rest and peace is the best thing you could do for them when they are suffering so much. Poor thing. I'm so sorry this happened to you and your boy. Sending prayers for your precious Ivan and to you. Rest in peace dear Ivan. Play in Heaven!!
