I think that is the best way to determine the time to let go. We just had to put our Great Pyrenees down about 3 wks ago and she was to the point where it was time and my ex-husband who was with her, in another state, put his cell phone up to her ear so I could tell her goodbye. I know she heard me and I knew she was ready because he said her eyes were fluttering when I was talking to her and before that, she was only breathing very shallow and no movement at all. Trust your hearts, you will know when. I truly feel for you, you and your husband are in my prayers.
