| Charlotte North Carolina ?? Do You like it ? Dh and I have been thinking of moving for a while now. He can get transfered just about anywhere so we were thinking of Colorado , N. Carolina and California. We think we decided on N. Carolina but are not sure. We want to go and visit again this time looking more in the areas we want to live and see how we feel about it as a whole as opposed to a vacation setting. Does anyone on here live there ? We were thinking of Charlotte or Raleigh/Durham and have been looking at Myers Park and Wake Forest and a couple other areas , including downtown. Do you Enjoy living in the area ? How is downtown Charlotte ? Are there many family activities ? Also I love modern homes but haven't been able to find many in the area , could anyone recommend any areas I should look in or any good builders? Thanks to anyone that can help. Also any Colorado-an's out there give me perks on your area also. Thanks all.

| DH is from NC. He grew up in Western North Carolina then spent several years living in Raleigh while going through undergrad and vet school. I very much dislike NC, but I am a western girl for sure. I would move to CO in a heartbeat but would never consider NC. Where are you from now? That would probably make a huge difference in whether or not you would like it. Ladymom (Marj) is from Raleigh. She would be a great one to ask.

| I am about 4 hours from Charlotte, My parents have visited frequently for car shows and such and I have heard it can be kind of bad with crime, not terrible but more elevated than other areas of the state. If i am wrong someone please correct me. Wake forest area is very nice!

| We live in Maryland now and I am all for moving ! I chose N. Carolina because of the beach area. My son loves the beach and dh vetoed the caribbean and he will not live in Florida or Cali. but he always loved South Carolina so we started researching and started leaning towrds N. Carolina but Colorado is high on our list also. My dh likes it because he is a ski demon , I on the other hand am a crash dummy on ski's

| If you are looking for a good downtown area, you need to come to Greenville, South Carolina, which is about 1 1/2 - 2 hr drive from Charlotte. Greenville's Downtown

| I have a friend that lives in Raleigh and ABSOLUTELY LOVES IT!!! I have visited it and I LOVE it there. It is so beautiful and the homes are so nice and big and beautiful. I would move there in a second if I could get a job there....not to mention that houses are so so cheap!! My friend has a giant house on a golf course that was custom build and it was so inexpensive!

| I lived in Gastonia for about a year a while back. I really loved it. It's right outside of Charlotte. It's a growing town, so a lot of newer homes. They have a huge park (wooden castle with a sandbox moat), lots of outdoor family activities. I also loved the grocery store Harris Teeter there. It has a small daycare in it so you can have your kids play while you shop.

| yes as others have said i would definately look into the raleigh wake forest area, trut me its much better type of neighborhood. Also, greenville SC is amazing!!!!!!!!!! my mom goes there for business very often and absolutely loves it.but you are rite, the beaches are wonderful around here. If you prefer calm and quiet go to the outer banks.I think everyone must see them at least once. But drive the same distance to Myrtle beach SC and get a more populated built up tpe of beach, both are very nice just different. Also, charlotte is a pretty good drive to NC's beaches. I live way closer to the coast and its a good three hour drive and charlotte is about 4 hours from me the other way

I have never been to Greenville but we have been to Myrtle Beach South Carolina many times. I definately prefer the calm and quiet area of beach. I still want to be close enough to action and entertainment and the school area is important. Shhesh...it's hard decision to make My dh is planning a trip and we will (try) to see all the areas and were also planning a trip to Colorado to check out the areas there. Thanks for the advice and keep it comming

| I loooove Wilmington NC!! Not so sure if that is an option for you or not, but I have lived here my whole life, and consider myself fairly well traveled for my age (27) and there is no place yet I would rather be! Beautiful beaches, nice weather, nice small city!

| I love Colorado - I think it's absolutely beautiful. No humidity!! But I don't know if I could live there. I live in Maryland currently too. I couldn't deal with that much snow. And it's extremely dry in Colorado. I LOVE South Carolina! Just posted a thread myself about how I'd like to live there, lol

| Charlotte area is very nice. I wouldn't have any problem living there at all. It's actually a cleaner state than SC |
