I know there are circumstances here and that those babies need a lot of care and will be in the hospital for awhile.. but $3M?? Even in this economy everyone still wants their piece of the pie! The pie has run out of slices!

That is a little outrageous. The hospital I work for is a non profit hospital and for those without health insurance, they automatically get a 30% discount. I'm sure most non profit hospitals do this, but of course, we don't know what kind of hospital these babies are in.

Judging by the situation she would have to have those babies in a state of the art facility. I doubt that it's a non-profit hospital.

Well supposedly she had wanted one more girl and that is why she had more eggs saved up. So things are probably uneven number wise between the boys vs the girls so my guess more babies.

I watched intervention last night and cried my a$$ off. There was a story of a family that had 11 children. The older had to help the parents raise the children. One of the girls seemed to need more attention than most. So as she grew into a beautiful young girl that kept on. She ended up at the constant mercy of boyfriends (she ended up admitting that she couldn't be without a boyfriend because she alway felt like she needed someone and didn't want to fall into the crack like she did growing up). One got her hooked on heroine and she kicked that after almost ODing at home twice. She then moved on to Alcohol and with that went the hanging with friends. She was slipped drugs one night and the guy raped her over the course of five hours and taped it. She didn't know. A few months later the police had arrested him for something (probably did the same mess again and got caught) and her video came to light. So she fell further into drinking and pills to numb her feelings. When she finally accepted help and went into recovery it all stemmed from being one of a mass and needing extra attention. I cried so hard watching that episode. These babies and their care were so much on my mind watching that episode. I pray that nothing like that happens to one of those children but it's a reality of selfish decisions that people make like having too many children and needing to have the others co-parent with them.

I saw Intervention too and I am sorry but that girls parents did not seem to be the brightest bulbs around. Why would you keep having kids only so your oldest kids can raise the younger kids! Doesn't seem very fair to me.

They definitely needed some help too. I mean come on your both working full time why keep adding to the brood and adding that strain and stress to your older children.

I really think some people are addicted to the pregnancy! I loved being pregnant but after the third one...I knew I personally was alllllll set! I know my limits!!!

So what is the excuse for all the other addicts? Just having a large family doesn't make someone an addict. I really hate victim mentalities. My husbands grandfather was one of 11, my grandma is one of 11, they both grew up to be wonderful people that were glad to come from their large families. I think if you look at large families and the number of addicts that come from them, it is not going to exceed the number of addicts that come from small families, especially not in the case of both parents being around. Same thing with felons. You go to a prison and most of those people there did not grow up in large families with both parents around. I do not think it is fair to assume that children that grow up in large families are more apt to become addicts and criminals or that they will lack attention. I think that is a completely unfounded assumption.
I'm just going to not read this thread anymore. Obviously it is full of a lot of unfounded opinions and people with control issues.

Oy you just love drama and getting wound up. No one assumed or even intimated that children that grow up in large families are more apt to become addicts or criminals. I didn't make a general statement here. I just specifically spoke on that family's issue. Jesus you just jump all over and get agitated and want to spew off and add things to the mix that weren't even stated. As I have said before you just identify way too much with this family due to your own circumstance. I have no idea how in the world you don't think that a child won't lack attention. You have a ton of children it stands to good reason that no one will get an overly abundant amount of time from their parents. There is just so many hours in a day.

I feel that choosing to have 11 children and having to have the older raise the younger children because both parents are working is wrong. But that is just my opinion and I am intitled to it as everyone is entitled to theirs.

Thank you that is all that I was saying. I thought that the episode showcased some of what we all felt as far as a lack of attention being given. Several of the kids said that is how they felt. So that was all that I was bringing to light being as it was a "straight from the horses mouth" thing that related to this type of story.

Other folks want to jump on the comment and balloon it into other things and make it seem as though I was saying..not even infering something else.
