| I just talked to a neighbor who decided to stay. So far so good, just windy, but no rain. Of course it's not going to hit until late tonight, but we'll try to make it back sometime tomorrow. Kemah, Seabrook and the other neighborhoods are flooded already. I live in Clear Lake City, and like I said so far, so good.

| We went to my in laws Friday morning. No traffic, no problem to get there. It usually takes us an hour and we made it in 45 minutes. MIL was ready with food and water around 11:30 pm started to rain and get windy, we went to bed and couldn't sleep all night. Power went out around 1 am. Everybody was up we couldn't sleep. The area were the in laws live it's a very wooded area with big trees and stuff, well the next morning it was a mess. In laws have a generator and that helped to keep us cool. We left the truck in the driveway and a tree next to it fell, luckily on the other side were there was nothing, otherwise we wouldn't have a truck.! No power, no phone service even cell phone calls didn't go thru we try to go to a parking lot close (kinda) to see if we could get good reception, but there were trees all over the roads and streets it was a big mess!!, we couldn't make it to the parking lot. We just wanted to know if our house was ok. Later that day we came back home, but it took us 3 hours to get home. Traffic wasn't so bad, it was the roads that were flooded and police had to close them, therefore we had to take alternate routes. We finally made it home! no damage but a few shingles missing and debry all over the yard. No power, my cell phone is dead by then and couldn't charge it in the truck b/c I left the charger at the in laws, anyways. We slept with the windows open that night. It was HOT!!!, yesterday morning we spent all day cleaning up the front yard and the fridge too. We got power around 5 pm, but not phone line yet, which at that point it wasn't a big deal as not having power, but of course I wanted to get online(). I don't have to work today neither does my husband, so we are going to clean up the back yard now! and get cook a nice warm lunch. Thank God nothing bad happened in my area or to my house, and I'm grateful for that!

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | veguroev I'm so glad your house is ok and you got power back on ! You must be so glad to be home ...I hope you get your phones soon - its scary enough to go thru this, but to have to deal with no electricity and phones makes it so much worse....most of my apt complex has no power & there's trees in peoples front doors ....and lots of roof damage I just got back from checking on my parents (and work)... they have no power or phones now either - (batteries died)....I finally found an open store to see if I could get them some staples - and yup - NO ice or water. They're going to try later and at least have a gas grill to cook on. it's a war zone out there - we see this kind of thing on the news but to see the damage in person is just unreal ....The whole city has no street lights except in small areas - but the damage is just unreal.... I'm so glad your house didn't take a hit and you're going to be ok.

| So happy you folks are alive and safe! I know how surreal it feels to survey the damage afterward; we don't get hurricanes here in Pittsburgh, of course, but we do get some pretty nasty storms that leave tornado-like damage. We had one a few years back that cut my power for only a day and a half, but across the river there was none for more than a week, and I ended up giving some fridge space to a friend. I hope you're able to get whatever you need until all is back to normal. I'll be praying for all of you! |

| I am really glad everyone in okay. My sister's house in Kingwood has a not of down trees around it, but luckily none of the hit the house. Her fence is down because a tree hit and they have some minor roof damager. Plus she has not power. My other sister's and my mom's houses in Katy have no damage at all, and they have power there so that is where everyone is hanging out at. I feell really bad for the people who have homes in Galveson, Kemah, and Crystal Beach. It so devasating to see my home look like a war zone. I feel really helpless sitting her in Fort Worth. I am sending all my prays and thouth to all you down there. God Bless!!!!! |

My in laws are looking for gas right now for their generator and it is hard to find it and if you do there are looong lines. They don't want to come t our house, but we already told them that they need to. We'll see.... I hope your family is ok and you and the girls too. We just finish cleaning the back yard!

Houston needs a GOOD list/map of working gas stations. I didn't see even one open today. They also need to do maps of where power IS restored - not where it's out. WE ALREADY KNOW IT'S OUT CAUSE WE CAN'T CONTACT THOSE PEOPLE (sheeesh - sorry for the caps) I really do think the city is doing a great job. I just feel so bad for all without power & the basic necessities. | |
