| I was in a painting and drawing class-my senior year of high school. My teacher loved changing the radio station from whatever music we had on to talk radio. Because of this, we ended up being the first class in our school to hear about what was happening. My teacher immediately turned on the tv and went and got his wife (another art teacher at our school) to tell her something was happening. At that point we still didn't know exactly what was going on, but I will always remember the look they exchanged...that look told me that life was about to change. Ashley

| I was working as a secretary for a solicitors when one of the guys from the estate agents next door came in and said that a plane had hit the world trade centres in America - at first it was thought to be an accident until the second plane hit. I remember going home and just sitting in front of the TV and crying...it made me feel really cold and numb. I'll never forget those images of the fire fighters rushing into the building to save people - surely the bravest of the brave.

| I also remember being scared for my mom and aunt. They both worked at a hospital and being so close to D.C. I didn't know what time they were coming home and that would leave my cousin and myself all alone. My mom told us later that they were about to start taking the hospital employees to D.C. hospitals to help out.

| Isn't it strange how we can all remember exactly where we were and what we were doing? I was home, in bed... heard my roommate yelling for me to wake up. It was almost 6 a.m. We sat there stunned watching the TV all morning. In memory of all of those that lost their life on that tragic day. This picture is beautiful.

| My husband and I took the week off work to celebrate our anniversary and we had just dropped our pups off at the groomer. When we got back in the car we heard on the car radio that a plane had just crashed into the first tower. We went home and watched the TV all day just stunned. The weirdest thing is that we live close to a major airport and when the air traffic was stopped, there was such an eerie silence from not hearing the airplanes, it was just so so strange. I'll never forget that horrible day.

| I was on my way to work and as I was listening to the radio the first plane struck. At first it was thought to be an accident. At the time I was working in Jersey City which is right across the river from where the towers stood. I could clearly see the smoke. By the time I got to work the second tower was struck and we now knew we were under attack. We all stood mesmerized outside looking at the burning buildings - looking in disbelief. When we saw the first buidling collapse, we panicked and we all just left to go home because we wanted to be with our families. On my way back towards my town, I was hysterical crying and looked to my left side as I was driving. At this point I saw the second building falling. These are images that will stay with me forever and I still cry when I remember. Thank you to all the men and women who risk their lives everyday for us. You are truly appreciated.

| I was at home, at the time we lived on Andrew's AFB in Maryland just 10 miles outside of Washington DC. I got up and turned on the tv and our local news was live on the Pentagon, I though it was odd that the Pentagon was on fire. Then they started replaying everything that happend. I couldn't believe it. My husband was in the Airforce, he was security forces. He had just worked overnight and only got into bed a couple hours prior to this. I kept running up and down the stairs relaying the news to him. He was recalled at work and didn't come home for days.
