I agree, Paula, there are way too many questions in this case. If this was, in fact, a dog mauling, I would be more suspicious of an adult pug than a lab puppy. ANY dog will bite under the right circumstances, any dog. But some dogs and some breeds are more likely to be aggressive. I guess this is a conjuncture - the truth may never be known or revealed.

From a forensic point of view they will be able to tell which dog did the damage. The lab was definitely bigger than the baby.

I can't begin to imagine what those ems and officers saw.

Several people were in the house including the grandmother, according to the police report. HOW could a child be MAULED to death and not be heard by someone? I DON'T believe for one minute that the little pup killed the child. I am sickened to think what the full investigation will reveal.

Me too. It wouldn't be the first time young teenage mother's found
a way to get rid of their off spring. Sick I know but this story is just
too bazarre. Don't understand why the police PTS the pup before
a full investagation was held unless it was sick and foaming from the
mouth! Nothing makes any sence.

They'll also know whether or not baby was alive then too.

It is so sad, both for the baby and the puppy. I think they should have completed their investigation before they euthanized the puppy.

I agree with you! I have had a black lab before and she wouldn't bite a biscuit! Also, shame on the parents for not watching their newborn!!

Sadly, this could be the case.

Nothing adds up.

And perhaps the baby was already dead.

I just do not understand how 3 adults (or so called adults - if you're parenting) were in the house - but no one was attending an infant in a swing. I do not believe a 6 week old puppy could attack and kill a baby and no one hear anything

I really think there's more to this story than those adults are telling. The no noise part...puzzles me the most.

the reports are that there were 2 adults at home at the time but not in the same room with the infant.
I would not and you shouldn't leave a baby in a swing unattended, how could this have happen? so sad for all.

The 6 week old puppy was bigger than the baby? That must have been one huge 6 week old puppy then?

That's what I wondering too. Do they automatically euthanize the dog in cases such as this?

I just don't buy it! I agree with everyone else. We are not getting the whole story. Labs are not known for this type of behavior, and certianly not a 6 week old puppy. I can see the puppy simply wanting to play.. What I don't understand is the fact that the parents did not hear the child crying. Any person that is being "mauled" by an animal is going to scream! I think it boils down to child neglect. I don't think the dog should have been put down for it either.

society is to quick to euthanize, a full investigation should have been done first!!!!
