If that quote on that forum is correct - I doubt that will ever be released to the public by the police or anyone else.

Although, it could be an important lesson for others.

I just do not understand how a 6 wk old puppy could get this baby out of the swing. I'm betting if they hadn't fed the puppy, they also hadn't fed the pug and it might have taken 2 to get to the baby.

Negligence, laziness - it all turns my stomach, because these people will be like others - they get away with it.

Exactly my thoughts. First off if a dog/pup was attacting the baby it would have been audible, but someone was far enought out of earshot that they couldnt defend their baby???? somethings up when my girls were that tiny i never left them unattended except to get somthing out of another room....and i could still see them. We were also very cautious with our dogs around them, and still are. (just because of the jumping up on ppl issue we are having right now)

#1 rule of being a parent......NEVER LEAVE YOUR CHILD UNATTENDED!
Now i am no Saint i did leave them unattended for no longer than maybe 5min while they were sleeping or in their playpen. but i was always within earshot.

something is not right here!

Incredibly sad. The story sounds feasible. Dogs in general have a thing for dirty diapers. Even a well fed dog. I can't even imagine what that baby went through. This just makes my heart ache.

If this story is true, which makes me feel sick just thinking about it, I find it hard to believe someone did not hear the cries. During nursing school, I had to watch a circumcision, and let me tell you, the cries could have been heard a mile away.

Something is very wrong here. The child was probably left home unattended.

This story has rocked our entire town. It is all that people talk about in the coffee shops and even at the parks. While at the courthouse this morning I spoke with an officer I have worked with in the past and he just teared up when he spoke of the baby. Please, remember the ones that are involved, many are having a very difficult time with this. Understandable in the least. While I was there a woman was talking about it and said that the puppy had rights too, I have to say I agree and the puppies rights were forfeited.If this is the truth, the puppy was not at fault, his care givers were. Bless his heart and the babies heart. I feel for the family members outside of the parents. I lost my nephew at the age of one due to neglect of the parents. Other hurt, he was someones family member outside of being some ones neglected son.

I had a colicy baby and walked the floors night and day until I was ready
to drop. You don't leave, especially a boy screaming because they can
develop a hernia like my son did even walking him day and night.
They are unfit no matter what the outcome! That poor child is safe
and sound now in better hands to be sure.

All I can say is what the crap. A six week old puppy could do this. What about the pug. I have always been told if one dog charges (attacks) the others also will. Why did they assume the lab did it and not the pug? Makes no sense to blame one puppy. The pug is bigger and fatter. Also I have been told pugs are mean as heck.

Buddy is fresh next to him. He just chills out!

One thing pugs as a breed are NOT is mean. There are bad eggs, I'm sure, but they are VERY sweet, loveable dogs in general.

I read the quote on that website...disgusting.

I can see how the lab puppy could have done that, if the swing was open on the side for the baby's legs or if it was a car-seat type swing. It wouldn't have been necesary to knock the baby out of the swing if that's what actually happened.

Shame on the parents - if that is the case they should be charged with child abuse/neglect and animal abuse.

I do feel bad for the parents because regardless of how good of a parent one is, there can't be much worse than losing your baby. But I do believe that they are responsible.

Yes, all parents leave their babies alone at some point. But NOT for an hour and a half without checking on them and NOT in a swing with 2 dogs in the room. They were in the wrong, and that poor baby and dog had to pay the price. and if that's actually what happened, there's NO WAY they didnt hear that screaming if they were in the next room - or even the same HOUSE - as that child.

As a mother of a baby in diapers, and a mother of Diesel, aka Nasty Boy, I can honestly say a well fed dog will still go after a nasty diaper. They are dogs, they like stinky things. Not saying this pup was well cared for or not. Since it was only 6 weeks old, they probably just got it and most people take care of a new puppy, just because its new. Usually they start neglecting it when it becomes not so new anymore.
I am thinking, if the baby was indeed left in the swing overnight because of colic, and obviously everyone in the house was too lazy to care for it, he had probably been in a messy diaper all night.
How anyone could not hear the screams is beyond me. If he wasnt screaming, I would wonder if he had sustained some sort of injury before that or if he was severely dehydrated and too tired to cry.
