I had not realized that the Lab was only six weeks old. Without sounding heart less. I do not feel sorry for the parents or the grandmother. The pitty lies with that poor baby both human and k9. A six week old puppy is incapable of deliberatly killing. It's like saying a one year old child deliberatly burned down the house when matches were left for him or her to play with. That pup I can almost guarantee thought of that baby as a toy. Perhaps, the crying set it off or the movement but I would stake my life that the puppy did not have the meaness to viciously attack anyone. The parents no matter how young are those that should be held responsible and I think it is a damn pitty that conclusions were jumped to. And just like we all thought the parents were no were around when it happened. Elaine

Also, I know this is horrible speculation but I work in law enforcement (felony probation and parole) and I can pick people out ten miles away who use. That's all I am going to say about that....
yeah.. i agree!

such a sad story.. this poor baby boy had to die because his parents/grandparents should've be there to watch over him!..and weren't! like many mentioned before.. babies shouldn't be left unattended for ANY amount of time.. but it is SO obvious that it wasn't just a quick 'run' to the other room to grab something.. this baby was left alone for a long period of time.. and was not even close enough to at least HEAR he was ok.. (someone mentioned the grandpa put the baby in the swing when he left at 8:30am and another person had said the baby was alone for 1.5 hours!! are you freakin' kidding me!!!!! )

i most definitely blame the people that were supposed to be watching him.. and sad to say it was his mom/gma!! i honestly can't believe that they would leave the baby and do whatever they were doing while the baby was all alone in a swing that is meant to always be fully supervised and with 2 dogs (1 being a puppy who doesn't even know where to go to the bathroom, let alone.. what a baby is!!!!)

and one other thing i just CAN'T understand.. why are they ALWAYS so quick to euthanize!?!?! i understand the "laws" and if a dog bites a human they are to be put down.. BUT i don't understand why they wouldn't use the dog as part of the investigation.. testing his temperament, etc. (what if the dog was not given attention.. what if.. what if.. there are SO many things that could be the case, in this situation.. and looking further into the dogs personality, how he reacts to certain circumstances, etc. could probably say ALOT for the situation and most likely lead them to more clues, in furthing the investigation of this tragic case!! i think with MANY laws.. things need to be viewed on a case by case basis.. one dog "attack" can be much different from another dog "attack" but EACH situation needs to be assessed seperately! Plus like mentioned before.. this is a 6week old puppy.. even if they claim they can't 'chance' to put this puppy with another family because it has "mauled".. why not make it a special circumstance and if the temperament is ok.. and all seems well-place the poor doggie in a no-child home!!!

so many questions.. and i know alot is all speculation until the full results come back.. BUT it isn't rocket science to figure out that the baby should NOT have been left alone for any amount of time.. let alone over an HOUR!!!! (why not run some errands, get your grocery shopping done?? ..sounds horrible.. but might as well! it was basically like the baby was left alone anyway.. so sad.. poor baby.. RIP!

This is a real sad story and I think there is something fishy about it ....

A lot of you on here judge quick ..... how many times have you left your Baby UNATTENDED sleeping in the Cripe ..... to go take trash out or check the mail or go the the potty ???? Things happen in a split second and NOBODY is perfect ..... WHO watches his kid 24/7 ???? Please People .....

Yeah ..... I agree the dogs should have NEVER been with the Baby alone in a room ..... but guess what .... no matter how sweet the dog is or how long he has been in the Family ..... A DOG IS A DOG ... and they will turn on you no matter what Breed or Size .....

I am NOT justifying what they did ..... I AM NOT ..... clearly it was wrong and the baby and the dog had to die ..... ....

i completely understand what you are saying.. but like i said before-it was obviously NOT real quick.. the baby was left unattended for a LONG period of time(long enough to have this happen.. and not in close enough proximity to at least hear screaming/crying!? ..that is what i just don't understand!! trust me.. i completely get that things happen in a split second and you really don't know someone's situation, until you are in their shoes.. BUT this tragic story is just too fishy.. and has had certain things happen that show the people watching the baby clearly made a mistake..(but it wasn't a quick run in the other room.. it was a leave the baby for a long span of time.. ya know?) once again, i totally understand what you are saying.. and i completely agree that accidents do happen.. They happen so quickly & hindsight is always 20/20.. BUT this is a situation where it has been shown to police that the baby wasn't being watched over and hadn't been for at least an hour! weird situation.. & so sad!

You're right that when my daughter was a baby I did leave her alone- not in a swing but of course in her crib but she was NEVER EVER unattended. She was always within hearing distance or with a baby monitor. You can't leave infants unattended- certainly not long enough that a dog could attack and kill it without you ever hearing a thing. I don't know what happened but what ever it was is the mother and/or grandmother's fault.

A good (even just decent) parent takes every measure they can to insure their child's saftey. Leaving a 2 mont old alone in a swing with dogs where nobody can even hear him cry is really unexcusable.

I don't think anyone was quick to judge. They didn't leave this baby unattended two minutes to take the trash out. They left the baby for an hour and a half. Sorry, but that to me consitutes BAD PARENTS. I do not know any (thank God) that would leave their two month old infant alone for well over an hour. Elaine

This story is so fishing I can smell it all the way to NY.

Something else happened and somehow the puppy is being blamed.
People are so sick today I wouldn't be surprised if that baby had
died for some reason and they had the poor puppy do this to
cover them!
There are so many sick people in this world it's scary.
For the authorities to even think of putting down that poor puppy
before a complete investigation is also fishy!
This whole story smells worse than low tide.

I don't want to judge, this is so sad, but do you think they were sleeping?
I am a parent of 2 teenagers- it depends on the age of the child - how long you can leave them alone, at this baby's age it is not acceptable to leave the child alone.

So please if it comes to light this is not exactly what happened do not be angry. But I know everyone is looking for answers here...

OMG that is horrifying. I know we don't know the facts for sure yet but that scenario makes sense.
If that is true it is heartless that the puppy was put down.

WOW this is complete insanity IMO.

And i read back where someone said they dont feel bad for the parents at all NEITHER DO I so put me on the heartless list....

Here what I think happened
Baby left unattended for OVER an hour in a swing prolly screaming. Lab tried his heart out to get the baby out of the swing and help it inadvertantly killing him. its all just a shame.

Now an innocent puppy and baby have lost their lives while the parents are fine scott free!!! Sickening.
