| Ethical Question So there is this toy poodle in my next door neighbors yard.. I have a previous thread on the bad treatment this poor dog gets .. anyhoo he/ she is as sweet as can be but VERY NEGLECTED.... it has stickers all over... horrific tear stains never any water or food... I sneak over and give it some as much as I can.. I have called the humane society, animal control and the police they have given them warnings they put a makeshift looking house for this poor animal... anyhow.. its very hot and humid right now in Texas... soooooooo my mom said she would take it and give it the proper love ...but my question is is it bad for me to wait for a opportunity and steal it? I feel torn on this.. hubby thinks its a bad idea but I just cant stand to see this poor animal treated like this..... I have no other ideas of helping this poor animal other than this.. please give me your opinions... I appreciate your help.. |

| You shouldn't steal, you'd be breaking a commandment. I would find another way. Could they be convinced to let your Mom have her for a very small fee? It's great your Mom is willing to do this...God bless her.

| Seems like the puppy is more of a liability than pet. Maybe they would be willing to re-home the doggie if you asked. Might ask for some money. Guess I would be willing to pay just to get the baby away from such horrible conditions.

| obviously the people do not care about the dog. perhaps if you approached them and suggested that you know someone who would like to have it and offer then something for it they would take your offer, cause evidently the dog means nothing to them. On another note, I have a thing about dogs being left outside especially small dogs. Whay do you even have a dog if it is not inside where you can enjoy it and it can enjoy you. Maybe you can help it dig under the fence and escape. |

| I know I shouldnt steal... this sight of this poor dog breaks my heart... the conditions here are not meant for any type of dog.. it is much too hot and humid.... and without proper care, food, water it is even worse... I once spoke to them about another dog but nothing ever came of it.... they are just horrible pet owners who purchase pets on impulse and fad I am sure.. this poor dog is chained in a unfenced yard with tall grass all around him.. there is this new city ordinance 1411 or something like that, in which protects animals like this but the authorities here are not worth a damn.... |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I think you should offer to buy the dog. If that didn't work, I would continue to call those places you mentioned and get other people to call as well. Sometimes it helps when there is more than one neighbor that reports a problem. It would be stealing if you decide to take the pet, and taking the law in your own hands is never a good idea. You must be prepared to face the consequences if you do this, after all where does one draw the line? Some people think it's abusive to dress our dogs, should they be allowed to steal them? Sometimes the squeaky wheel gets the oil, so you can just keep on reporting what you see. If you can document any of this it would be helpful for example no water available, but some of the other things, like tear stains, I don't think people would consider that abusive. I also think you might want to be careful if you are feeding it anything, the people might be able to sue you.

| stealing is wrong.... but leaving that poor baby outside and in an abusive situation is a terrible thing! I have a friend who "helped" an abused "yorki-schnauzer-poo" run away from home... she is in a beautiful home and the neighbor NEVER even asked about the poor dog! d
