That's terrible. I need to be more careful too. Will your homeowners insurance cover the wallet? Some do. Hope they catch the thief. Hugs to you

It is a horrible feeling. My husband had his wallet pick pocketed a couple of years ago when we were at a flea market. Didn't even realize it till we got home. Very SCARY feeling. Yea, thank GOODNESS my SS card wasn't in there, I never carry it around. If that was stolen too, I would have a whole lot more to worry about.

OH MAN that sucks! Hugs to you and as long as u reported it as soon as u realized it, you wont be held liable at all. This is a perfect example of why everyone should copy all their c//c cards on a copy mach and keep in a safe place. it really helps to have all the #'s and phone #'s too.

That's great advice. I am going to do that with all of my cards once I get the replacements in the mail! Too bad the gift cards inside will never be replaced... I'm still holding on to a glimmer of hope that they catch the guy/gal. Maybe that's just wishful thinking.

Ok! So I called AmeX and they have a benefit called "buyer protection"!! They are going to reimburse the entire cost of my wallet since I used my AmeX card to purchase.... I am SOOO happy! The purchase had to have been made within 90 days, and GUESS WHAT? I BARELY made it at 89 days!! WHEEEEEEEEEEW!

I just need a copy of receipt, CC statement, and police report. This is such a great service that more people should know about.

That is wonderful news about your wallet, that is a huge amount of money to be out of.

I have a little story about SS cards. When i had my purse stolen they did get my SS cards. I made sure to tell my parents to take those cards out of their wallets. Which they did do, they put them in their locked desk at home. Well one day their house was broken into and their cards were stolen. So it just doesn't really pan out like it should in any choice you make with those cards. Crooks are everywhere!

Oh nO! That's so much worst than having a wallet taken, the theives were actually in their HOME! I hope that they protected themselves against ID theft. I guess the only safe place left is a safe deposit box... I'm so sorry to hear that. I wonder if you can be reissued a new SS #?

I just started carrying my check card and driver's license in my pants pocket so I don't need my purse when I go shopping alone or out to a restaurant.

Shame it has to be that way but even with my hubby with me, I keep a firm grip on my purse at all times and never put it in a cart or buggy.

Yes, it is a horrible feeling knowing someone was going through your house. but my parents were very lucky! These people were only searching for cards and they got what they wanted, and luckily they left their two adorable maltese alone and unharmed. It could have been an even worse experience.
