You must be a very strong and dedicated person. I would not have been able to go thru all of that for that long.
If you have not read the book Marley and Me, I suggest you read it. Their dog was exactly the same way.
If I were you I would find a rescue to take her and let them know she needs to be out on a ranch or farm or have some serious training. You do not have to live like that. Good luck in whatever you decide.

Hugs to you!!!! Your poor nerves. I had german shepards for most of my life. both of mine were strays that we picked up running around. Shanney and Heidi would get into things but never what you have put up with. I'm agreeing with the other posters that reccomended police work. That is one smart dog and persistant. Hope you can find a solution

You put up with that for SIX Years??? OMG...I don't think I would have lasted a month with a dog like that. I'm sure you know how strongly I feel about rehoming dogs and how I hate to see dogs rehomed. But there is no way in h*ll I would keep that dog!

Sounds like you give her a lot of exercise with the dog park and your son running with her. But its still not enough for her. She needs to be pushed more to make her work harder. Try getting her a back pack and slowly put more and more weight in it until you get to a point where she comes back in from her run and is tired. Or you can try finding some sort of cart for her to pull, same idea as the back pack. I think the back pack would be the easiest to try first.

If i were in your situation and have been dealing with her for 6 years then i wouldn't be able to give her up at her age. she is probably 7 or 8 years old now and probably doesn't have very many years left. You are all she knows and to rehome her now might be devastating for her.

try the backpack thing, hopefully it will work. just remember to gradually build up the weight so she doesn't hurt herself. good luck

Well Maureen you and I have talked about Cassey for many Months. I know what you have been though at least in that time.
I know between you and I we have came up with Many Many *Jobs* for her.
The others here have had some Great Advice for you. Not all but Most we have talked about.
I really think it is Best for Cassey and for your Yorkies Safety to let her go. I Really hate that I really do but God bless your sweet heart you have Tried Everything.

And as for the Search and rescue or Police dog work.. she is to old.. the start training them Way young.. and the retire at about Cassey's age.
She may do well as a Therapy dog though .. You know I am here for you hun.. I wish I was closer to help you more ((((((((HUGS)))))

Wow! What a dog!! My only advice would be to try and rehome her to a farm. That way she could run where ever she wanted. Almost sounds like she as a dogs form of ADHA (Attention Defeict(sp) Hyperactivity Disorder)

I don't remember specifically how it came about, but my sister was able to rehome her shepherd to the police. The dog wasn't a pup, she was a few years old. She was very protective, not necessarily agressive. She had a baby and the shepherd was very good with him. Her husband was stationed in Alaska and she couldn't take care of dog and newborn by herself so she rehomed. Might be worth a try, at least they may be able to suggest something. Good luck!

It sounds to me that she has separation anxiety.

If she is to much for you, then she should be in a home that is more equipped for her. Please don't take that as a slam. There are people that had a better "understanding" for this type of dog.

It is hard to re-home, for all, but sometimes it is the best thing to do.

It sounds like seperation anxiety to me too - bless her heart - she is just AMAZING ! I know it must have been awful to see all the messes but holy cow - opening doors ? What a smart girl and DETERMINED !

But - at this stage - maybe finding a home where she'll always have someone with her all the time is a good idea - after all this it seems to be what you need to do before you don't have a house left or worse - she runs in the street and gets hit -

Thank you I am having my son increase his run time with her... I bought her those saddle bags, they are made for dogs, a long time ago, and when I walk her I put it on her and put water bottles in it because god knows I would last 30 seconds running

I would just like to be able to give her ALL my love like I do my Yorkies but it is turning into "conditional" love, And thats not fair to her
