He's insulin dependent also so is my husband....my son was diagnosed at 4 yrs. old.....He used to have a lot of nighttime lows or early morning lows...I've found him seizing a few times and had to call the rescue squad, it was so scary....Every since he's been on Levemir he hasn't had those problems....He just got his labs back and his H1ac was 5.8!
I know everyone is different, what works for one won't work for another....He tried the pens but he didn't like them, he said he would put the pen in and hold it for a count of ten and remove it and EVERY time he removed the pen it always had insulin dripping on the needle....he would get so frustrated because he didn't know it that was some units that where supposed to have went in him, he also likes the flexibility Levemir allows him on his eating scedule....
