Well I am watching him constantly and poms are smart dogs so I know he will learn and I am spending a lot of quality tender time with him, he seems to know I am the mommy already lol. Skinning teeth I guess snarling or showing gums and cainie teeth. He only does this when you try to remove his food bowl and anything he might be chewing or picking up from the fllor or outside

| Two times a year, but you know what? I have not found one single ball of fur on my floor as I use a slicker brush on Bandit and I take out his dead hairs sinc ehe was a baby, so he is used to it. Now Bijou is a bit antsy and I have to hold him down as he is obviously not used to this, but he will learn |

| I used to give Zoey chewy toys any time she wanted. Now that we have Chloe, we can only have a chewy once in a while and supervised. A huge dog-fight will break out! Your poms are beautiful

| They are both so cute!!! I've never had a food aggression problem but if I did I would try this.. You offer him something he likes better than what you are taking away. So if he has a bone, bring him his favorite treat, tell him the command "drop or give it", when he drops the bone, praise, reward, let him eat the treat and then give him back the bone. It teaches him surrendering the bone gets him something even better and that you aren't trying to steal it from him. Just be careful, if it seems like he is going to bite you, you might need help from a trainer.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | My pom has always been aggressive if I try to get something out of her mouth or if I need to pick her up. If she is under my bed and I try to get her out or something she has from her she will charge and snarl and has bitten me. Other times she is so sweet. She is very territorial but she has never bothered any of my other dogs. SHe was sick all night last night and I wanted to seperate her from the others whille I went to my Dad's and she wouldn't let me pick her up. I finally put on heavt snow gloves and picked her up. I don't know it it is bad breeding, as she came from a petstore or what but after her I switched back to yorkies. Maya is very smart and went to training class etc but I could never break her of the aggression. I would definately neuter him and let him know who is in charge. I think they are beautiful dogs.

I will do this tomorrow and let you know, he is a bit gruuhhhish with me if I try to even take a stuffed toy away. He was just not trained to surrender, that is the problem when we take older puppies

Thank you, Bandit shares the same daddy as him and I tell you, Bandit is my angel in heaven, he has never snarled, bitten or even tried to be aggressive to me, he was taught by me at a tender age that I am the one who can put my hand in his feeding bowl, I can pull or play with his tail while eats, I cant take something out of him mouth and put my hand in bla bla, he had learned this from me. this breeder didnt have time to train him or any of his dogs. They were like wild animals all of them . He had to lock them up when we came cuz they were out of control . I think that is a breeders fault. Now if you get a dog from a pet store, you know that is Puppy mill stock and if you see puppy mill clips and videos you will shiver as to what the parents go thru, so when babies are born to the parents who are stressed and tortured they turn out wild and hard to train, this little boy is sweet and will let me pet him play with his tail and all of his body parts, only problem is food and taking anything he likes away from him. He knows I am boss cuz I made him leave his bed and I stepped right into it and made him move, I do this as routine I stand in front of them and they must move when I move. I think I have some work cut out, but I hope seeing he comes from half of Bandit's stock he may learn quicker than I hope. I think maybe in three months he should have it down pácked I hope? That would put him near 9 months. Husband is against crating him but he refused a 40 minutes walk and came right back and peed in front of us, huge puddle. Why do breeders do this to pupy at this age when they know they will be trying to place them? what is so hard to take a puppy out to pee and poo if you end up with them after three months

| Sounds like Itspuppyluv gave great advice on training! I just want to give my 2 cents on crate training. If done right, I believe it is very human and a good way to be successful with housetraining. Good luck! Your new pom is beautiful. I think it's always harder to retrain, but the rewards may be greater!

| Oh they both are very pretty. My gf raises poms and I always like to be around them. Maybe he just will need to go back to crate training for just alittle while. I know you hate to do that but until he understands. Not like it has to be permanant.

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | your new pom is very cute! i agree with what someone else posted about offering him something even better for what he has and teaching the drop it or give command. if that doesn't work and he still aggressive about it to the point where you can't use your hands you can try using an object to take the toy/food object from him. There was an episode of the dog whisperer with a very nasty rat terrier mix who would bite your hand off for trying to take something away from him. Caesar used a broom as an extension of his hand to claim the space and take the toy. your guy is still really young so i think the trade option will work for him. also, as far as marking in the house i'd get him neutered asap. As long as his 'boys' have dropped you can get him done. you don't have to wait. crate training will help too or giving him an even smaller space then what he already has. see if making his space smaller will stop him from peeing in his area. if it does then you'll have to set up a schedule for eating and pottying. if you do a search here you will find alot of info about that.
