My New Pommie has arrived home Yayyyyyyyyyyy, but I am cut out for some real work. He is VERY macho and very bold. He has a strong and somewhat aggressvie personality, he is already marking and hiking his legs he is just over 5 months by a week and some days. Just now I tried to take a bully stick from him that he took from Bandit and he rushed at me with skinned teeth. HELP is he viscious or how can I undo this bad training he got? He is definitely not abused but more spoilt. I love him already but I dont want him to see I am afraid to take things from him, if he senses my fear he will become head dog and I cant have this. Bandit has accepted him and somehow he seems to over power Bandit. I really want this to work out beautifully. Has anyone brought home a dog who didnt get the baby training to share things or let people take things from their mouths? I hope someone can help me cuz I actually got scared when he rushed at me:( here are his photos in the laundry room with Bandit. he is a sweety and I will call him BIJOU, French for Jewel:eek: ....but id he more like his registered name Devil:eek: hehhee. Anyhow I am thrilled to have him home and just need some tender guidance as to how to deal with him rushing and skinning teeth:rolleyes: I was going to call him Ty Mor but I like Bijou better |
2 Attachment(s) Ok, trying again with the photos, they didnt load the first time. Also he is VERY fat, the guy used to free feed him and plenty treats, so he is extremely overweight for his little bOh,ody. I hope he will lose the weight as it seems a strain on his breathing and legs ;( Oh, and he is a real macho INTACT male with plenty of personality. I guess neutering him at 6 mths may help? Cant have two machos in the same house. He hiked his legs and peed on my door entry soon as he reached LOL |
Oh, also he is not potty trained it seems as he will do it anyplace. I wonder if to start to crate him? so far I have put him in the washroom, but wondering if crating may be better? my husband is AGAINST crating as he thinks it is INHUMANE but he just does not get it duhhhh:mad: |
he is a very pretty dog. Congratulations. |

Thank you so much, he is also very well leash trained and walks beautifully to a perfect heel:eek:  |
Aww, congratulations! He is so cute! My parents and my younger sister both have Poms and I just love them :) |
He is gorgeous!!!! Good luck with your training!!!! :) |
Thank you all, they have bonded so beautifully, I cant believe how sweetly they are getting along, maybe Bandit knows he is younger? They are already cuddling, how sweet, I will post more pics later ok. I just love him to death, he is so gentle and sweet. I will just have to monitor him closely with the peepee thing:D |
You would think that since he came from a breeders home at 5 months old he would have been raised better than this...the viciousness and not being potty trained is bizarre? Dawn |

The man spoiled the dog and apparently didnt teach him that taking things away from him was not a bad thing. the potty training, they all lie and say the dog is somewhat trained to at least use paper which would be fine, but he does not he hikes and does it anyplace. I will have some work cut out here but oh well, time will tell, at least he is not going that frequently |

He is viscious only if you take something from him or try to take his food bowl or chewey, otherwise he is sweet as long as ther eis nothing to be taken away from him. He is MY dog and I love him, I will deal with it somehow |

Thank you:D and warm, now I have two for when my hands are cold LOL. I am sure I will have to shave them down a bit in summer at it is blistering hot here and they will be really wolly by summer |
They're both really cute. I'm with your dh though, I'd never crate my dog, but that's just me. I'm sure if you spend the time and attention to the dog, it won't take too long to train him to not go just anywhere. Or at least, not in the house. What is "skinning teeth"? I didn't understand that. |
