Thank you Lori.

Day 4 is the easiest so far. I'm not having any physical withdrawal symptoms so the Chantix is doing it's thing.

Hi Nikki, Congrats on being smoke free! I wasn't a heavy smoker, during the week I only smoked in the evenings, but I LOVED it. I quit with Chantix in November. My advice to you would be to take the Chantix for the recommended 12 weeks. I had to quit the medicine after 4 weeks because my insurance didn't cover it and it was very expensive. I have really been craving it lately, but I"m staying strong. (The girls in chat always help and support me) So take the medicine as long as you should. I also haven't drank since I quit, the 2 seem to go together for me. It was a habit that I had to unlearn, and figure out what I was going to do in its place. I've gained 10 pounds but have started getting it back off. YOU CAN DO IT. Stay strong. Remind yourself how expensive it is to smoke. And make plans for what you will do with the money you save!!!

Oh, forgot to add....I did get nauseous about 10 minutes after taking it. Taking deep breaths helps. It only lasted about 15 minutes for me so I was able to deal with it pretty well.

That is a great Idea.
I found that if I woke up and ate Right away Then took the meds I was ok.
If I waited even a half hour I would get really sick.
I also cut the dose in half and then half again. so by the 5 week I was only taking it in the morning and then only half a pill.
that helped with costs too. I still have a weeks worth of meds left.. or at my reduced dose a Month LOL

I tell you I Feel GREAT!

I guess I was lucky. I was a little nauseous the first few days or so and then I was really sick for 4 days (like stay in bed and want to die sick) but I don't have any problems at all now. In fact a little nausea wouldn't kill me because I'm eating like a piggy.

The only lasting side effect I've had are the dreams. All night long I dream and so I'm tired all of the time. I just finished my 3rd pack and I'm going to use the 4th but then I'm done. I'll have to use will power at that point because I'm tired of dragging all of the time. By that time I'll be smoke free for almost 2 weeks and there is no way I'd give in once I've gone that far. I love hearing all of your success stories!

I am not sure if someone has mentioned this yet, but my brother-in-law said he had some really funky dreams when he was taking Chantix. He said that were not only strange, but VERY vivid!

Yes Nikki said she has had alot ... I did to some were Great Others Terrible.
My GF is on her second week and she has said she has the same one over and over.. that she is Cheating and Smoking... I had a few of those myself....

Yeah the dreams are a really strange side effect. My dreams aren't even all that weird. They're actually pretty sequential and about normal things. That's strange in its self because dreams are supposed to be weird. In the morning I feel like I've been watching a movie all night. Another strange thing is it's hard for me to snap back from them. Like one morning my husband hit snooze. I started dreaming that he was telling me to get up. When the alarm went off again I started dreaming he was telling me it had been a half an hour and I needed to get up. I actually woke, looked at my watch and said its only been five minutes. My husband of course has no idea what I'm talking about and says, huh? I sat up and very angrily said, it only been 5 minutes! As I was saying it, I was wondering, what in he** am I talking about? LOL, my poor hubby!

LOL you have me Giggling Nikki... I woke hubby up one night to Yell at him for smoking himself..... He has never had a cigarette EVER... LOL
He just gave me hug and we went back to sleep..

I think what really bugged me was the GAS...

I love it! I'm not alone in my Chantix induced craziness!

I have to admit, you scared me really bad with the gas warnings but so far so good. Keeping my fingers crossed. At this point I could probably go off it if any new side effects cropped up. 13 years ago pregnancy robbed me of all dignity and I'm not eager to revisit that.

Sounds like the dreams from Ambien. Ambien dreams are Soooooooo weird, but I actually like it. They are so intense, I ball my hands into fists when I sleep and my pointer and birdie fingernail have started to grow deformed from sleeping with tight balled fists all night. Trippy!!!!

It is so great you've gone this long, Congratulations!!!!. January 30th I will be smoke free for 5 months. There are times I still crave one, but I will never light one up. Wait till after you have quit for just a couple months and then go into a smokey restaurant or bar, it will just about gag you. I couldn't believe how bad it was.
