| I have two Kenmores........ My moms first sewing machine that is about 25 years old and she gave me one 19 years ago. I have never had to take them in for anything I have replace the light bulbs, needles and clean them real good, but other then that I never had to take them in for repairs. I have been thinking of getting a new one and I would really like another Kemore.

Our Blessings R Many Donating Member | I have an Elna, which I love but very expensive, have had it for many years. I did get a machine through Sears last year, my plans were to volunteer to teach children in our area to learn sewing. This is the one I chose for them to use, it is really nice and for the money a terrific buy. You will be so happy in learning to sew, the machine will pay for itself in no time at all. http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...nces&adCell=A3 Patti |

I have used a sewing machine oh about 12 years ago I have been reading reviews and I am going nuts. From everything I have read, anything less than $200 is kinda crap, so I don't want to waste $ on a cheap one, but this is just a little hobby so I am not going to spend a fortune either.

| you sound like me, LOL! I had a sewing machine, used it like 10 years ago, my MIL wanted it and I gave it to her. Then, all of sudden, I think I want to sew again...so I bought this one. I did take some lessons, (since it had been so long) and it worked really well. I keep thinking I am going to make some stuff...I want to learn to quilt...but I don't use it all that much...BUT....I am GOING too, I, too, didn't want to spend alot since this is just for my personal, hobby use...I am happy with it for the amount of sewing I do. I think if I were to ever get into it heavy then I would maybe spend more, but I don't see that happening

I am not going to say a computerized is better, the reason I bought this one at Sears is because it was a great price for the machine and all that it offers. I compared the pro's and con's and went with this one. Is Sears still offering the additional 10% off through today on the sewing machines? I thought that it ends tonight. Of course machine embroidery can be done easily on any machine, where the person is in full control all one needs to do in setting up the machine without the presser feet in use and embroidery hoop fabric face down, set your sewing machine at the shortest stitch length and then use the zig zag at preference of width in doing the different things one wants to do. I have used this method many many times.
