| VW.....very long rant!!!! (sorry) I am so incredibly frustrated with VW lately. We have a 2007 GLI and I do LOVE my car...but it has had so much go wrong with it. I should have listened when people told me this would happen. BUT...i wanted the car...so here I am dealing with it. 1st incident...the air compressor went out in the middle of summer. yep...BRAND new car...no a/c. it was fixed under warranty, but what a pain in the BUTT. Then, i took it in to have the oil changed, tires rotated and balanced, and brakes replaced (i had already put 30k miles on the car so the rear brakes needed replaced). so they do all of this, I get in my car, and my tire pressure monitor is still saying my tire pressure is low. they say "well, let it calibrate for 40 miles then it should go off. your tire pressure is fine" well, a good couple of hundred miles later, the monitor light is still on. i call them and they tell me "your sensor must be messed up, bring it in and we will check it out". ALSO...my brakes were squeeky!!! WTH???? i mean..i payed almost 400 dollars for brake job, oil change, and rotate and balance...i should not have squeeky brakes!! so, i call and make an appointment to have my tire pressure monitor looked at. they tell me it is a 4 week wait. so i make the appointment, and wait it out. during the 4 weeks, I notice a moaning and ticking sound in the a/c motor. i call them, they say they will look at it when I bring it in for the tire pressure monitor. ok..no biggie. so i take it in...my appointment was at 9:30. I get there just after 9am. i drop the car off, their shuttle service takes me and my daughter to the mall. i figure it will be just a couple of hours, we can do some shopping and she can play in the play area...and if need be, we will have lunch there. no biggie, right??? RIIIIIIIIIIIGHT. 7 hours later....YES...7 hours!!! they tell me that my car can be picked up, that they had to order a part and i need to bring it back when the part comes in OYE!!! I complain about how long it took and all that....they tell me that when i bring my car back in, they will provide me a rental and will also clean my car for me. OH...they also told me the tire pressure was low, which is why my monitor was going off. EXCUSE ME....but didn't they check that the LAST time I brought it in????? UGH!!! ok...so i get in my car and it seems like my door is opening and shutting funny. really rough. i didnt' think too much about it until my husband went to put something in it and noticed it and asked "what the "H" is wrong with your door???" hmmm...so it's not just me, huh??? so i call them and tell them...they say they will look at it when i bring my car back in. OK well, i bring it in, get the rental, and 3 days later pick my car back up. they tell me the a/c motor noise has been fixed, but the door is normal. NO...it's NOT normal. but hubby says to just let it go for now...we will see if the fact that they oiled it for us helps at all. OK... so i'm driving my car to my friends apartment that night...go over a speed bump, and it sounds like the bottom fell out of my car!!! the front suspension is ALL messed up. AND...the noise in the a/c is still NOT fixed!!! i marched my unhappy butt up there this morning and asked them WHY in the world that it seems like every time i bring my car in for something, i get it back in worse shape than it was when i brought it in?!?!?!!! they now have my car and are still trying to tell me that the door is normal, the noise can't be heard by them (whatever!!!!!!!), and that they want me to come up there and try to show them where these problems are. they still have not looked at the suspension, so who knows what is going on with that. i'm sorry, but we paid WAY too much for this car to be having these problems. and you would think the service would be a little better than it is. I'm highly disappointed, and even tho i love the "look and feel" of my car, i will NEVER buy another VW again!!! all of this...and i haven't even gone into the cosmetic issues we have had...the emblem flaking off, the passenger leather seat having a rip in it (no one ever sits there!!!), and the time they washed it for me and gave it back to me with swirls in the paint. but i'll save that saga for another show....

| I'm sorry your going through all this. I had a VW beetle, and all I had was one problem after another. I finally landed up selling it, because I just couldn't get them to fix it right.

| Oh, YUCK! I have a friend that has a Jetta and it's caused her nothing but problems since she got it new in '05. Honestly..I would trade it in and get something OTHER than a VW. I heard they were just awful!

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | I have a 2000 jetta. I had a check whatever light on in my car for the LONGEST time. Every time i'd bring it to them they'd "fix" it and it would be good for a few days or a few months. The light just kept on coming on even tho nothing seemed wrong with the car. So finally, after going there too many time to count i had my dad go there with me. He said if we take this car home and tomorrow that light comes back on i'm coming right back here and driving it up your @$$! Problem fixed! LOL i swear i think they just took the bulb out from behind that light tho. I don't take the car to VW anymore. I have a friend of my dad's service the car for me when i need it. I love my car and have no big problems with it other then that stupid light.

| ERGH! How frustrating!!!! VW's used to be good cars back when I was growing up my Mom and Stepdad each had a Beetle and they just ran forever! I love how they look, but I'll never own one because they are owned by a Bin-Laden. Even though they say they don't agree with their family member, Osama, I don't buy it. I'm so sorry you're having so much trouble

| Is there another dealer in your area? I've run the gambit with dealers and their service centers with my car, my mothers car, and my sisters car, and each time they don't fix it or piss me off I find another dealer to spend my money.

| Im sorry that you are having to deal with all this on a fairly new car! That stinks sooo much! When I was looking at cars I stayed far away from VW. I had a BUNCH of friends/family/neighbors/coworkers who drove them. Out of 10 people, 5 were sooo happy and couldn't say enough good things about their car, and 5 were ALWAYS at the shop! I mean something was wrong ALL the time with their car. I decided to spend that much money the odds were not good enough that Id get a good car. When I was 24 I bought a brand new cavalier for about $12,000. I am 31 and the car is still going STRONG! In the 7 years Ive had it, I had to replace the gas pump (about $500) and early this year a strut broke so I had the struts done (my brother did them so it was about $400). Everything else has been basic maintanance stuff. I could not have asked for a better car!!! This car rocks! I won't get rid of it until it falls apart! hahaha

| the thing is whenever you do the whole warranty thing they never give you a new part. okay put it this way say a part goes out or breaks. they arent gonna get you a new part. it will be a cheap used part. most of the time. my dad is a mechanic and he has the dealerships call him all the time for warranty parts. they are only gonna keep buying the cheapest things to get you through the warrenty and then if it goes out its your problem not theirs.

| I have a 98 New beetle----- I adore it! I have owned VW's in the past, a Golf and a Rabbit. I NEVER use a dealer, in fact, the only work that's been done on her in the three years I've had her--- has been done by me. I know how they can be and bought the Haynes and Bently manuals, a vag-com scanner and belong to NewBeetle.org. VW's are like Harley's----if you love them, you learn how to fix/maintain them. Want reliable? Buy a Honda. |
