That would be great!!..... I am sure they would like to have a chance at being a vendor (just so there is plenty of room for the YT Vendors!!!). By the looks of the website, the person who owns the boutique may have Yorkies.....(pics on the site) or has customers that have Yorkies. (They may be interested in joining YT and joining us, too!!)

If you are just changing planes with the same airline or one operated by the same airline than you just pay the fee once. I just flew my 2 from Iowa to Florida - we'll make the return on Sunday & they did well. (Not only did we switch planes in Memphis, we were delayed 3 1/2 hrs getting out of DM, so we missed our connecting flight & got booked out the next am instead.) The $160 they charge for an under the seat dog bag - is just a rip-off, but it will help you get to KC faster.

I am so bummed I didn't see this post earlier! I was just at the Plaza on Thursday, 12/27, because I had a meeting scheduled with the hotel to see our meeting space and pay the deposit. We shopped around for a while afterward, and Sukoshi got SO MUCH attention because people in KC are just NOT used to seeing a dog in a stroller! It was a lot of fun, and we even considered going to Westport area to look at the shops there (where this doggy bowtique is that you mentioned), but we decided not to since it was cold and actively flurrying. I'm so bummed that I was so close and missed out on the Bowtique! I've been to the Plaza and Westport numerous times, and I don't recall ever seeing that store before. I'll definitely have to check that out in June!

When I think of inexpensive pet-friendly hotels, I always think of Motel 6. They're not always the best establishment, but if you're looking for something cheap, they are normally the winner. The closest Motel 6 to the Plaza is the Motel 6 Kansas City Southeast #1170, located at 6400 East 87th Street, Kansas City, MO, 64138 (9.76 miles away from the Holiday Inn on the Plaza). I am very familiar with this area, and it is an "ok" area, but you will probably not leave with a very good impression of KC, as this is not the cleanest or safest area around (although it's not in an area that I would advise you to completely avoid either). There is not much to do in this area, as the nearby mall is almost completely closed down at this point, and there isn't much other shopping or activities around that you'd probably care about; however, if you're just looking for a cheap bed, this would suffice.

The next closest Motel 6's are Motel 6 Kansas City North - Airport #0423 (10.81 miles away) and Motel 6 Kansas City Southwest - Lenexa #0381 (13.20 miles away). Both of these locations may be better than the 87th Street location, but it will probably greatly depend on which direction you're coming from.

I saw "Shelby&Seymour" replied to you in post #323 :thumbup: , but I wanted to clarify that St. Louis is a 4-hour drive from Kansas City, so you do NOT want to fly into Lambert-St. Louis International Airport! You will want to fly into MCI (Kansas City International). It is confusing because the airport code is MCI, and you'd think it would be named KCI, but that is because the airport was originally named Mid-Continent International Airport. When they changed the airport name, they did not change the airport code. So...there's your trivia lesson for the day :D ! Use airport code MCI when looking for flights :thumbup: !

I met one lady at Halls Department Store on the Plaza on Thursday, and she went ga-ga over Sukoshi! She said she had a Yorkie at home herself, and that her neighbor had 5 or 6 I think. I didn't have my YT cards with me (that's what I get for travelling with a different purse than I use at home :rolleyes: ), but I wrote down all the info, and I encouraged her to join. I told her right where to find this thread too, so hopefully she'll be joining us at the meet-up too (as well as her neighbor). We could recruit a lot of new people to YT when they hear of how much fun we're going to have at this meet-up!!!

Mom never goes to the Plaza or Westport area (although I did take she and Matt with me on Thursday), but I could ask my sister-in-law if she could swing in there sometime since I think she goes down there occasionally.

Yes, as Christina (~Yorkie~Mommy~) said, I am still out of town for the holidays. My hubby is on a flight headed home as I type, as he had to get back to work tomorrow, but Sukoshi and I will be hanging out in Kansas City for another couple days before we head home on Saturday.

Today is the last day to receive the cheapest registration price! As you can see, I can procrastinate with the best of them, and I just paid my registration fee today myself :eek: . Register before midnight PST today (even though I am currently in CST), and I will count you as registered by the January 1 deadline. After midnight PST tonight, the registration fee goes up to $80 per person with dinner and $40 per person without dinner, through April 15th.

I stopped in Three Dog Bakery while I was on the Plaza on Thursday, and I spoke to them about our meet-up and why we have to go through the corporate office. Three Dog Bakery began in KC, and the corporate office is located in Kansas City. Apparently the Plaza location is the ONLY Three Dog Bakery location that is owned and operated by corporate and is NOT a license/franchise like the other locations. Therefore, they are not able to do anything (vending, promotional activities, etc.) without going through corporate for permission. She mentioned that other locations can decide what to participate in on their own (such as Suzy mentioned above), but that the Plaza location is not allowed to do the same :( . She recommended we call corporate again, as she said our meet-up sounded like something they'd be interested in. She did say she was not aware of them ever doing a breed specific function before, but that we could be their first :D :thumbup: !

FYI - Adjoining Rooms

During my meeting at the hotel on Thursday, my contact said you could request adjoining rooms if there are people you would like to room next to. This would be a set-up where you'd have 2 rooms with a door in between that you could open to allow you to go between the two rooms without having to go out into the hallway. This would be good for groups of people that maybe don't have room for any additional roommates within their room but would like to be able to open up that connecting door to welcome the members in the room next door. He said you do need to request this in your reservation ahead of time, so be sure and call the hotel to let them know if this is something you'd like them to arrange. You will need to know the person's name the reservation is under for the people you want to have the adjoining room with, in order for them to link your reservations together.
