Rusty is the big dog. And the Yorkies already have homes.

Long ago we lived in this big farm house and hoped to buy it one day for it was going to be up for sale. We had a small dog and a big one. When we would go to work the big one would always go out in the kennel until we would get back home, well one day the landlady sent an Insurance man out with out letting us know and I guess hubby didnt latch the kennel and our big dog got out and was sitting on our porch, when the Insurance man got out of his car, The dog would not let him any where near the porch. barking and carrying on they said. Well we was told By the landlady that if we wanted to stay there we would have to take the dog to the pound or give it away. There was noway we would give this dog up that we had for 13 years, the dog would not of hurt a flea, So instead we chose to move, we looked and looked for another rental, We could not find one in the same area. and didnt want to pull the kids out of their school. So we bought the first place we came too, and this is where we are still at. we choose to get this home even though its not the home we wanted, Just to keep our old dog. well after we moved here she died. so we went through all of that for nothing. But Id do it again. Theres no way I could let my dogs go. sorry this is long but there are other options out there some times. and some times not the ones you want. but I guess you do what you have to do. I know Megans only 14 and she has no choice but to do what her parents ask. But I would ask the landlady if tere was any way you could keep the Lab there.

Rusty is the chocolate lab that they have had so long, I think since Megan was 5 yrs old and he has her heart. This guy needs a good home and I can see him enjoying the rest of his life with a good hearted retired man. Let's put our thinking caps on and search our friends.

Megan,

I'm so sorry to hear you are rehoming your dogs, but I understand. I know it's hard for you, but I think you're doing a great thing by finding good homes for them-and they're going to homes of people that you somewhat know and trust, it seems. You're being so brave!!!

We hope you'll still come on here, it wouldn't be the same without you! You'd be missed so much!!! Take care, and hang in there.

What will happen to Rusty if he doesn't find a home by the 3rd?

Rather it is a 14 year old or an adult,we aren't in their shoes. We can offer advice, but it is my opinion we should never put someone down for making the choice to rehome. We just don't live in their life. Good luck Megan.

And I did offer advise - to look for another place to live. I was only asking if other options had been checked in to. No matter what came my way, I would never rehome Lacy - she means more to me than anything else, including a nice place to live. If there really is no other option that to live in this unpet-friendly house, then I'm very sorry..I hope you find great homes for all the dogs

Well, he's not going to a shelter if that's what you mean. I would never do that to him. The owner will just have to suck it up and let him chill with us until we can find him a home. I'm hoping that someone can at least foster him for us.

Some lady from a shelter called my dad about Rusty. She was SO psychotic. She was telling us not to give him to a pound (no, really?) and she was like "Oh I don't think giving a little dog to someone 3 states away is a really good idea." Yes well...that's nice. That's where she's going.

Shelter people can be wonderful people, but others are know-it-alls and I can't stand the ones like that.

We're have to keep our house for a while (my other cousin is probably going to buy it). So in the absolute worst situation, he'd have to hang out here during the day.

Megan, I am so sorry for you. You certainly are a mature young woman! I haven't been on YT long, but have admired your posting. I hope you will continue to be a YT'er.

I'm glad the yorkies have homes. Were you able to find homes for your two cats? I never saw an update on that thread

No, unfortunatly, not yet. We hung up some fliers at petco & petsmart. The manager at Petco said that if they have room, they let cats stay with them until they are adopted out. But I think the cats would be OK living here at our house for a while.

OMG! How sad is that? What kind of place does not let you have any pets if you have your own home? Didn't they know ahead of time?

I wish you the best of luck ...

sabsab00 was looking for a baby girl a while ago, and she lives on Long Island, maybe she would be interested???
PM her and see ... that would make this a happy ending for her and Maddie at least.
My heart is sad for you, Megan ....

Oh, I just finished reading this and see that the Yorkies have been rehomed ... already ... I was in such a rush to give you sabsab00's name ... I did not finishe reading the thread ..

As for being three states away, I just wanted to reaffirm that you will see TONS and TONS of pics and videos of Maddie. You will be very informed as to what is going on with her, how she is adjusting, and anything exciting that happens in her life. It's so silly and close-minded for people to judge you when they have NO IDEA what your situation is like. They've not been in your shoes and have no reason to assume that they know what is best for you. I'm sorry you're having to deal with all of this on top of how sad you already are. *hugs*

Megan, I have always known you are mature but this only proves that you can handle the big problems in life. While your mom and dad have alot on their mind right now, you are handling most of this. This move keeps you kids in the same school district which is so important and is one big plus...if there is a plus but I'm sure it was important to all of you. How wonderful Angiedoodle (sp?) will have Maddie, I remember when she was so disappointed with her husbands surgery and couldn't get the little female she was looking at...she sounds wonderful and three states away or not you can't beat a yorkie talk member.

I guess the people at church didn't take the cats?
