| ![]() I don't know you very well Megan, as I am fairly new, but I have to say that I too am very impressed with the way you have handled yourself through this misfortune. I too, have had to re-home a dog and it was the hardest thing to do and I still cry every single time I speak of her. She was adopted by a wonderful family and she is very, VERY happy, but I miss her like crazy. I know that it was the right thing to do ...for her, but knowing that did not make it any easier for me. The family that adopted her had been waiting an awfully long time for just the right dog that could handle their particular situation and home life and she fit that need to a tee. They love her like crazy and I can clearly see that that love is reciprocated and she is where she is needed to be. God works in mysterious ways and we do not always understand the reasons, but we must trust that it is correct and believe in his wisdom. I guess when I see all the love that she has brought into their lives ... I do believe. When I read the threads in regard to others who have had to do the same ... I can't help but feel the pain they must be feeling too and it is all fresh in my mind .... and in my heart. |

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | ![]() Hi friends -- I don't frequent these boards much anymore but a friend of mine saw that my thread had been bumped and recommended that I come check it out. Yes, 4 years ago we had to rehome our dogs. My mom became very ill with an autoimmune disease of unknown origins (think: MS) and essentially we lost our house because she had to retire from her job on disability. Rehoming my dogs was absolutely one of the hardest things I've ever had to do and it caused a lot of grief for a long time. My dear Rusty went to live with my wonderful friends Mike and Kelly (alskayorkie and his wife) in Alaska, where he joyously lived out his golden years and just passed away in November. Maddie belongs to AngieDoogles and her husband, who recently welcomed their new son into the family and she fits along perfectly. Tucker was able to stay with us afterall because he provides a small service to my mom so he was registered as a service dog. My cats went to live with the mother of my dad's coworker. I don't know where they are in life. One of them has probably passed on by now (she would have been about 17) and the other is old too. This whole situation couldn't have turned out any better than it did considering the circumstances. I appreciate your good thoughts, but fortunately they aren't necessary as this is now part of the past. I'm going to ask admin to lock my thread to keep anyone else from bumping it up and confusing people. Thank you so much! - Megan ps - I wish that 4 years ago the 2012-Me could have come along and told the 2007-Me all of this. It would've been nice to hear haha ![]()
