| Baby is finally home! It has been a long 4 weeks! I met my puppy when she was 8 weeks old but the breeder wanted to keep her until she was 12 weeks. I visited her 3 times and since she was an only child (alone in an ex pen) I supplied a pet bed and toys. She is absolutely wonderful!!! I am so happy and so in love it feels like my heart might burst. I set up the ex pen in my bedroom last night and she slept like a baby This morning she wanted to play about 5 a.m. but I got her a little food (which she ignored) then I went back to sleep. At 7 a.m. I brought her in bed with me and she snuggled like we have been doing this forever. She is active and playful, kissy face, healthy and adorable. But, she doesn't eat I have tried and continue to try everything you all suggest but today all she had was a cheerio and some nutri cal. She drinks water and pees. Vet gave me some special picky eater food and she turned up her nose at that too. ugh. She didn't eat for the breeder either so I am not taking it personally. The breeder had to force feed her and prepare special stuff all day. Now it's MY job. She plays with any kind of kibble but occasionally I can get her to lick a little food off of my fingers. I can tell my house will be neglected today. (darn, shoot) She weighs just under 2lbs. Little Shelby |

| Congratulations!! She is absolutely adorable!!! Our Toto was 16 wks. when we were able to bring her home and she wouldn't eat for us either! She is still pretty picky but we are having great luck with the Nutro Ultra ... Toto is on weight management, but they have puppy formula also! Good luck ... looking forward to hearing all about your Yorkie baby!

| Tatum was not a good eater right when we brought her home either (she was 9 weeks old). I had to roll one little piece of food at a time across the floor so she would think it was a game. Eventually she would eat out of my hand and at that time I remember thinking "were we going to have to hand feed her forever??"! But then she started eating out of her bowl. Just keep in mind that if you start fixing her special meals just to entice her to eat, you could be asking for trouble later. I know there are moms out there that don't mind fixing a special doggy meal but make up your mind and try to stick to it. If you want her to only eat dog food, keep working at it! They do say that a dog will not starve itself to death - they'll eat when they get hungry enough (if it's made available to them). I would keep up with the Nutrical though!

| She is gorgeous! Good luck with her. Our first puppy Bandit was a terrible eater. Then when we got Nature's Balance (it comes in a roll, like sausage and you cut a slice and break it up) he loved it! Tucker eats like a pig, his food, Rusty's food, the cat food. We have to watch him all of the time!

| Welcome Home baby Shelby!! She is so adorable. I had one I had to syringe feed for a short time too and I know it's no fun. Please know that she will eventually eat on her own. What is she getting in the syringe? |

| I have an 11 wk old puppy named Sophie... When we brought her home last week. She also didn't eat well...I did switch her food to Royal Canin...the kibbles are really tiny... Sophie loves them...and we also would place some on the floor with little tinking sounds she would be interested in.. Also cupped some in our hand and she ate from that... Congrats on the sweetheart of a puppy........precious~

| Congratulations on your Shelby!! What a baby doll face. She is precious. I, too, brought home my Yorkie a week ago. General Patton is his name and he is Little Sophie's brother(the post before this one, by Annadoodle). He has not been a picky eater. Actually, he eats v.well, I am afraid to say. At this rate, I will need a part time job, lol. I hope Shelby gets adjusted to her new surroundings quickly(I know General Patton has). Enjoy your new baby. ~Bella, General Patton, & Maria~ |
