Thanks Des. Her mom's name was Jewel so all of the babies names are Emerald, Diamond, Ruby, and Sapphire. I got Diamond It was pure luck, I get SO many compliments on her when I take her outside.

In July, she will be 6 months and the vet recommended that I get her spayed by 6 months. She warned me that she could go into heat if I waited longer...is that true? She is so small though for surgery! The breeder also left a duclaw on her back leg so I was going to have that removed since it's not safe and can get caught on things. The breeder said she didn't even see it because of all the hair back there!

Most vets, if not all, always recommend they get it early. . . .let me first find the thread and then you can decide for yourself if you want to wait a bit longer. As for her going into heat, that should not be a problem . . .especially since there are no male dogs in your house

Gosh you are helpful! Maybe I will wait until 7 or 8 months? If she is not around male dogs, she won't go into heat...right?

She will go into heat as all female dogs do, unless they are fixed. But, since you don't have any male dogs, no worry about her getting pregnant

She was born in January so she is just about 6 months. I love her to death and I almost lost her when she had a hypoglycemic crisis in March and was hospitalized for almost 48 hours. That was very scary for both of us. I am lucky to have her.

She is just about 2 pounds and I have to get her spayed in July...hopefully she will breeze through it!
