| New kid on the block! Hello friends, I am new to this board, but already immensley enjoyed reading it. Previously, I had owned poodles, had to put down my last one, on Jan. 31, 2005. Four days later, I was given a precious female, 8 week old Yorkie. Chelsea has absolutely stolen our hearts!!! I spend my days training her and loving her, she is just SOOO cute. I have one question, for all the Yorkie lovers on this site.... How come Chelsea's ears flop over, will they eventually stand up, as I see in many Yorkie pictures???? Thanks for all the wonderful Yorkie tips! |

| Hello and welcome to Yorkie Talk Most Yorkie's ears will pop up eventually. A lot of people tape the ears to train them to stand up. Then you can also trim the top of the ear's hair and that takes the weight off and helps them to stand. My Tia has floppy ears still (at 4 months old). I tried taping them but she had none of that. I'm trying to work up the courage to trim her ears, but I'm nervous since she's so squirmy, so for now they are still floppy Glad you have joined us!

| Hi and welcome!!!! One of my pups ears has started to flop. I'm gonna get some clippers and shave the tip. I've read that they can flop also when they are teething but I don't know. I hope in time it will go back up.

| I've heard the flopping is associated with teething too. Hercules is 6 1/2 months and his ears are up, but his ears went up and down a few times. When we got him at 10 weeks, one was up and one was down. Then both went up. Then both down (like in my avatar picture). And finally both stayed up. I think it's cute when they are up, so take some pics. I'm sure they'll come up.

| Thanks to all who responded. Guess I just have to be patient to see if Chelsea's ears stand up. Up or down, she is still very precious to us. Thanks again, Chelsea'sMom |
