| All your paitings are beautiful! You have a great talent that so many of us wish we had. I've heard wonderful things about your crochet sweaters too.. Keep your head up and try to ignore the rude comments, there are far too many people here who appreciate you and your art to worry about the few critics.

| I'm sorry if I offended anyone, but I I didn't see where any of us who had concerns here were rude as you say, I did however see some of those that came to waistfuls defence being rude and downright mean. I don't care how many posts you have, I'm just the type of person that if I fear someone is being taken, even if they are a total stranger I will state that and I won't go behind someones back to do it, I'm that way in real life as well. I would like to think that other people would do the same for me. As for waistful she may very well be able to paint beutiful paintings, but the one example I worked with was not hand painted. Also if I paid for a canvas painting I would not want it done with craft paint, it just don't have the staying power of artist paints. I'm also a crafter have been for many years and I know this paint and its sealers well, yes its cheap but its just not quality paint. If you want to hate me for showing you that I thought this was misleading then go ahead and do so, but just remember that I only did it cause I didn't want anyone out a bunch of money for something that was not what it was stated to be. Yes I did it in the open forum for everyone to see cause I thought everyone had a right to decide for themselves. This will be my last post on this subject as I think I proved my point, so go ahead and flame away as you have been doing if you must. |

| Someone who does that type of work can use the same oils that the traditional painter uses. The canvas would probably not be traditional, as it would have to be the type that you can print on from an inkjet printer. They sell those types of canvas at places like Staples, etc. As for the quality of the canvas versus regular canvas, I don't know. A couple of years ago, while working at a computer supply store, I met an older gentleman who was looking for specialty paper. He was working with a photographer who for instance did wedding photography, and if the couple wanted their portrait turned into a painting, he would give it to this man. The man had a special way of scanning and printing out the original portrait onto canvas paper, then using translucent oils of some kind, went over the portrait and made it look like an original oil painting. If a person has a talent that can bring joy to another, they should use it. Whether those people find it to be worth something is their decision. All of us buy things that look worthless to others at some time in our lives, but that bring us joy. Really, the joy it brings is really what the item is worth. That is all that really matters...what it is worth to the person looking at it. I need practice, so what I usually do is go to http://www.memory-of.com and look for people whose children or infants have passed on who don't seem to have alot of photos of them. I redo the photo they do have and send it to them. I don't charge them anything. I get pleasure and practice and hopefully some feedback, they get a precious keepsake for themselves that they would not be able to possibly get elsewhere due to financial restraints. It might not be the best work as judged by others, but for the people receiving it, it is priceless. I wanted to move on to animals, so decided to do some of the babies on this forum. I bet alot of folks would "judge" us all nuts on this forum for loving our babies as we do and treating them as if they were more than human...but who cares, we are happy and that is all that counts . |
