| HELP..... Bad hair cut !!! I took my yorkie London blue to a groomer near my home ,that I have been to before when I used to have my peke . This groomer has been around for years and so I trusted him with my baby . I told him that since it's winter ,I don't want him cut too low and that I just wanted him trimmed and his ears clipped! When I returned to pick him up ,he looked horrible . First of all he didn't clip his ears which is what I specifically instructed him to do and his ears are flopping because of the weight of the hair . He also gave him a pony tail with a rubber band that was so tight that I had to snip it out with a scissor . I gave him a good look over after reaching home and notice that the groomer had cut his eye brows uneven and his hair was also uneven all over his entire body, he also cut too much hair from his face and the hair on his tail was very low as well . Basically he did what he wanted to do to my poor dog smh .I should have known that he didn't know what to do because he asked me if I had ever had my dog shaved before and I told him no that he has had a very low summer cut but has never been shaved. He said if I shaved him his hair would be nicer because it would allow his adult coat to come in because he still has his baby hair . I told him just a trim is fine and he butchered his coat he looks terrible .I wish I had pic to show you guys he even cut the top of his teddy bear gotee down to his nose . He kinda resembles a ferret ,anyway I called the groomer the next day and he didn't answer . So the following day he called me back and got my fiance who told him that we didn't like the hair cut and he offered to redo him free of charge what should I do? I don't want him to make him look worse and the only way he could possibly make the cut better is if he cut him lower any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated ! |

| I wish I could tell you what to do. I'm sorry that happened. Could you have possibly stayed there and watched, so that he would do what you wanted? Is it possible for you to straighten the trimming mistakes yourself and let him grow out from there? It's winter, so I understand you don't want him too short. Again, I'm sorry that happened. I think most of us have had bad hair cuts on our yorkies at one time or another, so do not feel alone.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Thankfully, it's just hair and it will grow back. I'm a veteran of the bad cut club! But what I've found is that it's generally a miscommunication between what I wanted and what the groomer heard that I wanted because I wasn't explaining myself well or using the proper terms. Pictures, pictures and more pictures have helped in my case. It sounds like you have a groomer that is at least responsive to you since he offered a re-do. If you are leery of having him cut any lower right now, I would ask if he could put a note on your chart so that you can take him up on his offer at a later time.

| Thank You !!! First , I would like to thank both of you for your prompt replies , secoundly I would have stayed YorkieUSA but he doesn't have a waiting area and prefers for his customers to come back for their pets . Also I usually cut him myself ,but I don't know how to trim the ear feathers and I didn't want to mess them up and I'm scared of plucking the hair from his ears because I don't want to hurt him. LOL Rhetts-mama ,your absolutely right it will grow back and I do believe it was a miscommunication , but on his behalf because I told him " I want his ears clipped , and I want him trimmed but not too low because it's winter " do you think that can be misundertood ? and when I spoke with him on the phone after the fact he said I should have told him that I wanted his his clipped lmao he wasn't paying attention and the hair on his back is trimmed in multiple lengths and his eye brows are even uneven . But thank heavens it will grow back and I have you guys to talk to |

| I'm sorry that normally happens to everyone. He was at least nice enough to want to solve the issue and didn't give you crap.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | I have found that my idea of "not too short" and the groomers definition of it don't always match. I've had better luck lately with saying "I want it cut to 1/2 an inch" or whatever. And to me, saying "I want his ears clipped" would suggest a quick pass with a pair of scissors versus shaving them or "tipping" them. Groomers, like hairdressers, have their own language. I cried like a baby after Rhett got his first cut because it was so much shorter than I expected. And then when Scarlett got her first "do" she had to be clipped much shorter on her body because she had matted more than I realized (she's got super thick fur). And she wouldn't let the groomer near her face. She came out looking like her head was twice the size of her body. LOL. I called her my little bobble head for awhile.

| Thanx Two ,that's what Rhett's mama said I just wish I would have known before hand . There is no doubt he is a nice man ,because at first I was enraged and had just decided not to go back but after constantly looking at my baby and feeling so upset each time . I decided to call him and yeah he did try to rectify the problem but now I don't trust him . I would like for him to fix it but only if I can watch . |

| Rhetts mama that's a fantastic idea , I think I will use the inches method and tell him tipped or shaved because boy oh boy I swear I can't put into words how this episode devasted me but thank goodness his hair does happen to grow fast and lol @ your little bobble head and you wanna know something else he told me which I found odd ? He said that my dog had dry skin because I wasn't washing out the shampoo properly and I wash him once with and rinse him two or three times and I condition him using earthsbath products .When I blow him out I never have any problems with his skin being dry .But this day he was very flakey what you think of that? |

| One thing I've always done is go over every little detail when I drop off the puppy. There is no room for mistakes then. If there is, then they must be deaf, because I show them on the body exactly what I want.
