| Yorkie Eyes Hello, Im new to this site and have a question. I have a Yorkie he is 2yrs old. His name is Rico. My question is. Where I live they have an open field, and they cut the grass, well today I noticed that Rico has a discharge coming from his eye. its not an odd color, more clear, and its not alot. His habits havent changed, he doesnt scratch his eye or anything like that. I wipe the eye with a warm moist cloth when I see the discharge. Is this something I should be worried about?? There is no cut, scrape, or any eye irritation with his eye. Im just a worry wort when it comes to Rico.. He's My baby. Is there any advise that another Yorkie owner can give me? Thanks!! |

| Since you said it is clear, it does not sound like it is an infection; but, if it gets worse I would suggest taking him to a vet. Eyes are not something to mess around with. Welcome to YT.

She stated that the discharge was clear. I know that one of my girls had a light scratch and was discharging clear fluid, where she had never had wettness at all. I took her in. The vet administered some type of med, checked the eye and showed me a very fine scratch. She had never squinted. What it did say had it been left unattended it would have developed into an infection and the dicharge would have turned green.

dex would get goopy eye and more than my girls and it concerned me - now he has a dry nostril on one side which is a sign of dry eye as well so he will be checked again next vet visit with the schirmer test as they can get dry eye as they age like us humans - better to be safe Last edited by dwerten; 04-24-2010 at 07:20 PM. | |
