YT 1000 Club Member | Bath Day After giving all three of my stinkers baths I noticed the difference in their coats. Can anyone give me an idea just by looking at the pics what types of coats they may be. Thank you.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I think it's hard to tell just by looking, they all look silky to me, and very shiny too. Usually you can tell the difference by brushing, if they mat a great deal they probably have a cotton coat, and if it seldom mats it probably a silky coat. I have heard of mixtures of the two as well as wool coats, which makes it more confusing. The all look gorgeous, but I'll bet you need a bath after bathing all of them.

| It's hard to tell from pics, but from what I can see, the first one looks like a silky coat. The second one kinda looks like a mixture of silky/cottony. The third one looks more cottony. My Jake has a silky coat, and Jackson has a cottony coat. When Jake still had his puppy coat, it would easily mat. I had to brush him 2-3 times a day to prevent mats. Once he lost his puppy coat, his hair was silky and never mats. Jackson has a cottony coat, and his hair has never matted. He still has a lot of his puppy hair, but it's very soft and easy to take care of. Much easier than Jake's long, silky coat.

YT 1000 Club Member | Thank you all. Dante is the first pic and I absolutely love his hair. I had him in my lap yesterday and he slid off my lap. The only problem with his hair is that it picks up dirt like crazy and before bathtime comes around his hair gets a different feel to it. I only bath them every other week. Leo is the second pic and His feels kinda like a cottony coat but it doesn't mat or tangle, and it is thick. Maggie is the last one and some have said she has a wiry coat but the only way I can describe it is it feels like someone who has split ends and has used conditioner. Nancy 1999, I got a bath when I gave them their baths. With all the shaking going on from all 3. LOL

then i would say you already know only I am confused I have been told here that the cottony mats a lot and the silk does not and the wiry is horrible and I have found none of it to be that way. my wiry coated boy's hair is super shiny, drys in a breeze but does feel kinda like he has split ends,my other boy"s hair is thin but shiny and tangles he could be modified instead of silk, the others I am still waiting as I am not sure they are none of the above seems like right now.

YT 1000 Club Member | So true about the coats. I know Maggie has a somewhat coarse coat and it doesn't grow very fast at all but I keep her relatively short anyway. Dante is going to see Sue on sunday so I will find out for sure. But i am pretty sure he is silky to. I was playing with them yesterday and noticed the coolness of their coats too. Maggie mostly warm but a little cool, Leo a little more cool and Dante well it is very cool to the touch and I compared it to a silk blouse I have and it felt the same. I just wish someone would write a book on all the different hair textures and how to care for them all. Like the products to use and how often to bath to keep the coat at it optimum peak.
