| ![]() Happy 4th Birthday Mickey....send your daddy some spirit licks and let him know you are out of pain and at peace. Please don't beat yourself up....I know it's very very difficult not to second guess yourself but you did everything you could for Micky. He would not want you to beat yourself up about being away on business. hugs to you.

| ![]() Bless your poor heart - and you didn't let Mickey down - you were doing your job for the support of your family who counts on you and besides, you know what pressures you were under and if he could have understood the situation, Mickey would "get it" and chastise Daddy for any feelings of unfounded guilt. It sounds like he was being well-cared for in your absence but his time to go just came - as it always does for our beloved furbabies - far too soon. I'm so sorry you are going through this and I hurt right along with you. Reading your posts and thoughts reminds me of when I lost my Jilly on Christmas Eve, 2003. The pain never really goes away but it does get better as time passes.

| ![]() I am so sorry you lost your little Angel Boy Mickey. My heart was breaking and tears were welling up reading your posts. I think we all tend to feel some kind of guilt when we lose someone close to us, but we shouldn't. I hope you will continue to post and let us know how you are doing.

| ![]() Saturday will mark one year since my angel entered heaven. I still miss my angel sooooooooooooooo much!!!! M-I-C-K-E-Y D-O-G-I-E Mickey Dogie! Dad love, love, loves his great most wonderful loyal angel sunshine boy! Dad can never in a million years repay the love you gave Dad!!! Your sister and I remind the neighborhood dogs your still the big dog! We chase off rascally wabbits that invade your turf without your permission. Whisper to your sister where you want to mark and she'll mark it for you. I still carry his harness around in my pocket. I still feel sorrow that I didn't do more for my angel, wondering if I didn't take the new job that requires some travel and move closer to new office.... You are my sunshine My only sunshine You make me happy when skies are grey You don't know how much i love you Please don't take my sunshine away.... ![]() |

| ![]() How is your sweet little CoCo doing? Is she helping to ease your sorrow any with her love and her kisses? Would it feel like you were being untrue to Mickey if you showered her with even more love and attention to help ease the pain? I hope I don't sound cruel but would it help if you devoted your all to her? I suppose you talk with her about her brother a lot cause I did when I lost one of my babies and had one left to help me through my grief. After a year I too was in a bad way cause I loved her so very much and it hurts just to write about her even now and she has been gone about 3 years. I am so very sorry too for your loss and I hope things will get better soon for you. |

Yorkie Yakker | ![]() I am so sorry to hear about your precious Mickey! I actually cried reading it, your pain came off the page. I know because I lost my 10 year old suddenly by a bacteria infection within 48 hours. We took him to the vet on morning two of him not eating, runs, etc. That was a Friday, my husband and I had a trip to the mountains with three other couples. But my youngest son, who is 18 was going to stay home that weekend and watch them. The vet said he should start feeling better in the morning, they hydrated him and gave him antibiotics. We told our son to check on him and he did every hour. However, when he got up at 2am to check, my sweet Baxter boy was barely alive. My son picked him up and he took his last breath in my sons arms! Your story so touched me. Of course I keep blaming myself. I shouldn't have gone on the trip (we were a 4 hour drive away). When my son called earlier in the evening to say he didn't look better, in fact he looked worse, we chalked it up to feeling a little worse before he got better! I am anguished and guilt ridden over not having my son put him in his car and get him to emergency! Like you, I didn't know it would be that short and fast! I too was anguished beyond words. This Friday will be 9 weeks and I still cry everyday in some manner. I have to admit, the pain in not as excrutiating, but the hole in my heart is still there. Like your Mickey - our Baxter was the light of our lives. He was like a little person who even "smiled" every time he saw you. I have NEVER been this heartbroken in my life. I am so sorry for your loss. I am sure Mickey spent the best 4 years a dog could being with you and your wife. My God bring you a little peace day by day, because that is how you must take it. I was in SHOCK the first two weeks. I don't even remember. I couldn't pick up his ashes, my husband had to. My heart feels for you and your wife. I am so very sorry. |

| ![]() My heart grieves with you over the tragic loss of your Baxter. I can understand why you felt it was safe to go away with your friends after what the vet said to you and your son was going to keep a good eye on him for you and he did from what you wrote. Sometimes in an illness things do get worse before they get better so don't beat yourself up but I know easier said than done. All the if only's we go through at these times. I am so sorry things turned out like they did and it is hard now I know but it will get a little easier with more time. Wish I was better at saying the right helpful things but it hurt my heart too and I just wanted to say so. |
