I did get into Petland. Man they were packed. You had to wait in line just to get near a Yorkie. My hubby started getting attached to a little girl that tried to jump out of my arms and into his all the while whining for his attention. I've just heard so many bad things about Petland and puppy mills that I just couldn't bring myself to get attached to her. I just pray that she lives a long and healthy life. Hubby and I are fairly familiar with the area so if you need any help organizing I'm more than willing to be a victim :)... er volunteer.:D |
Thanks!! I appreciate the offer to help. I may need it lol. :D |
Lisa K. - Your picture of Pokey is a adorable. You must have so much fun watching your pack with all their antics! I am also a big fan of Ceasar - If I can't watch his show on Friday night, I go to Direct TV on cable, and watch it during the week, I'm so hooked. Yougetthesmiles- Your babies are beautiful and we hope you will be able to get-together with us in the future. I did not know about the Yorkietalk Cookbook until you posted yesterday on this thread. Do you have any copies left? It sounds like they are going quickly! Cliffick - Loved your comment about computer skills, I can relate. Ha! If you want to PM me, maybe we can stumble through getting a picture up together, and not bore anyone with my lack of knowledge on this thread. Aerialla - Glad you posted and welcome. I'm also a newbie, but I have found everyone on here to be so kind. I bet you cannot wait to bring Lillian home around Mother's Day. Tatertot15 - I had no idea what you were going through until I read the thread last night about you trying to find a home for the Silkie/Yorkie. Bless you for taking care of that baby and getting it a wonderful home. Also, your clothes idea sounds wonderful and I feel certain they would sell. Can't wait to see the pictures. Piccolo has been enjoying this weather. We took a little walk this afternoon and saw plenty of other dogs and interesting things to smell. How about the rest of your babies? Have they been having fun in the sun? Lisa and Piccolo |
Hi Everyone, It has been a Beautiful day here too!! Winston accompanied me to the dump...I know... too much fun on a nice day:rolleyes:!! We had a lot of clippings from working in the flower beds all weekend. He did get a little doggie treat though!! Aerialla-Welcome again to YT! That would be great to see you at a meetup!! I too had a collie growing up and when jeff and I were first married we had a Llaso Apso too!! I now have 2 shih tzus and 1 darling Yorkie. I love all the dogs, but I have to say that I have gotten closer to Winston quicker than I have any other dog. I think from hearing everybody talk..it must be the breed itself. I had never been around any Yorkies before but boy am I taken now!!:) Tatertot-I think making dog clothes would be great. Did you have a chance last night to start on any of them? I ordered blue camo pajamas on ebay for winston and the lady hand made them too and did an excellent job. I think there really is a demand right now for the clothes. Lisa and Piccolo-I am so glad you enjoyed your walk today!! We had so many errands, we didn't make it out today. It is supposed to rain tomorrow later I think. We usually get weather about 3or 4 hours ahead of you!! Congratulations again to MyPeanutAbbyGrace....to Tammy Abby and Daisy Mae!! |
Hey everyone....I just got word from YorkieShadow that I need to keep looking for a forever home for this Yorkie/Silky. Is anyone on here interested in giving this little guy a forever home? |
There was another post on the other thread that someone else was willing to take him. I'm thinking they were from Alabama? I'm technically over my limit or I'd come today and get him.... |
Lisa and Pic...no I can't wait to bring her home for Mother's Day. Hubby told me that she was for my Mother's Day then saw all the things for her that I was buying to spoiling her and said Happy early Birthday too. Thank goodness my birthday isn't until July, by that time he'll have forgotten the money because he'll be so much in love and I can get another prezzie. :p WinstonW...my parents have had other dogs, but having our collie Sassy was the best. She was also a nut, I grew up in St. Marys, OH which is 5X9 miles in size. We were out hiking one day in the woods and couldn't find the dog. Following the sound of the barking we found her, chasing the geese in the lake and out about 30 yards and still going. It was hilarious, every few feet the geese would stop and turn around waiting for her then they'd move forward a few more feet....Rotten things probably figured they would take her out to the middle and strand her. Luckily we were able to get her to leave her chase. Unfortunately over time she wanted to be playing in the lake more and more (we lived right across the street from it), with the boaters and the cars we didn't feel it was safe for her anymore so one of the hardest days of my life was taking her to the country where she spent the rest of her life running and playing. ....As far as Yorkies I was able to finally convince my husband of one after I kept teasing him that we wouldn't need to go to a friend's house anymore just so that he could play with theirs.:D tatertot15...If it wasn't for my little one coming in a few weeks and my two male cats I would take this poor little guy. We have a cat that think he rules the roost so I don't know how the clashing dominant behaviors would work, he's the reason why we chose a puppy instead of an already grown dog. |
LAST AND FINAL UPDATE ON THE YORKIE/SILKY!! I am litterally in tears over this. My husband called the lady that had him today and she told him that she took him to a rescue!! I dont know if it is true or not. Can you believe she did this to me!! She agreed to give him back, now I dont even know where he is!! I feel like the worst person on the planet right now!! |
Tatertot..I am so sorry. This was the lady that was seeing if he worked out right? She was going to give him to you if yorkieshadow was going to take him right? I cant believe she took him to the rescue after you guys had made that arrangement. You have done soo much for this little boy. Do not get down on yourself. You have tried and given a million times over more than most people would even begin too! If I didn't have 3 dogs right now, I wish I could take him, but there is just no way. I can't think of any family members there either. Did you say which rescue? As someone stated earlier on in the posts some yorkie rescues could work with him and get him placed. Maybe that lady took him to something like that?! Trying to think positive?! I know you are such a caring person from all you have done for him. Maybe it would be best to think of it in that light if it would make you feel better. If you can't rest with that, you could try to find out where he is. I guess I could try to take him here temporarily till we could find a yorkie rescue for him. I think there is Petite Paws or something in Indiana. I could meet you halfway or something by Louisville. Tatertot, I am so sorry you are having to deal with this. you sound a lot like me, because I know it is hard to let some things go. Sometimes though you have to and findng that line is the most difficult part. Just let me know what you decide to do. |

Wow :D How cool is that?!? They certainly are cuties. Hey gals, sorry I've been away for so long. With the new addition to our family, I've been busy and I'm loving it! Tatertot, I am so sorry about the little silky :( That woman was so mean to do that. You did everything you could have done though. To all the newcomers, welcome :) I've got a lot of reading to catch up on, but right now I need to make dinner. OH one more thing... You should see what Winstonw's Mommy sent to Abby! It is the cutest little denim jumper with sequined cherries on the bib and a red gingham and white eyelet ruffle! OMGosh it is soooooo cute! I'll take a picture of it and post it later. It doesn't fit Abby quite yet, but I know it will this summer. It might be her 4th of July outfit :) Thanks again Lisa. You are such a sweetie! |

Tatertot...I feel so much for you right now. Evidently this was the way it was meant to be. We can all pray that this was the way it had to be for this little guy to find his forever home. Sometimes things don't go our way no matter how much we want them too. If you really need to know where he has gone, if she did indeed send him to a rescue then the next step would be to contact all the rescue agencies with a picture and the whole story. Chances are they won't think too kindly of her either especially when someone was working diligently to get the little guy a home....Many Hugs lindabjk...Talk about small worlds. A meetup would be wonderful. I don't know about Ada, but Lima's Faurot park is dog friendly. I think their only requirement is a leash though I have seen many just out running with their owners. With summer coming up we could make it a nice picnic. |
Lindabjk Welcome to YT! I have one question for you and tatertot. I can't believe what a small world between all of you and MyPeanutabbyGrace......I know MyPeanutabbyGrace lives pretty close to that breeder, but I was curious how you guys both found out about her?! That is really neat that you will have brothers!! |
Tatertot - Just wanted to tell you how awful I think that woman was to do that to your Silkie/Yorkie rescue baby. I am so sorry. You did more than everything you could, and it is much appreciated by all us dog lovers. Lisa and Piccolo |
Lindabjk - Just wanted to say welcome to this thread and I am looking forward to seeing your new addition in May. Tammy - Can't wait to see the new outfit Lisa made for your Abby. What a wonderful present! Lisa and Piccolo |

Is anybody still out there?? If you are....give me some ideas on what we should have planned for this get together. Do we need food?? who pays for that if so?? Games?? Give me a little help here....:D |

I think food should be in order for the meet up...maybe we should all bring a dish , chips, pop or whatever so we can all pitch in! I know fairfield pretty well from having clients in the area...so i'm happy to come and help out in whatever way i can, it's really pretty close to me :) |

I would love to have a picnic! i'm really hoping to be able to socialize my dog as much as possible with other animals and people. HOw long have you been living in lima? Did you purchase your dog around the area as well? |
Tatertot...Potlucks always work as does everyone bringing their own. I guess it would depend on how many of us there are going to be. If everyone brings their own then no one is left out and it makes cost simple since everyone is paying for their own...By games do you mean for us ;) or the furbabies?:D I've never done a meetup being a new mommy and all. lindabjk...I grew up in St. Marys, but have been in Lima for the past 11 years. I'm 30. I bring Wennie home in a few weeks, I found her breeder on the classified site Hoobly. She is in Pierceton, IN, about an hour west of Ft. Wayne. I went to see her this past weekend. Seems like all of our little ones are coming from Indy. :) A picnic sounds wonderful, if we don't do it at the park my backyard is absolutely huge and completely fenced in. If you want something in Ada that also works for me since it is so close, you are more familiar with that area than I am. |
Hi everybody! Yes I think that is a good idea too, to have people bring things for a picnic. I had looked through pictures of the chatanooga meetup last week, and I did see a lot of blankets on the grounds for the pups and looked like the overall picnic day!:) Fairfield is fine with me. MyPeanutAbbyGrace and myself it will be about 4 hour drive, but that is ok with me. I am used to that drive..do it a lot. We are so far the furthest southwest. It would be easier for you Tatortot to have it in your locale.Did you find out anything about the dog park yet? I know you have been really busy lately. Things like chips, drinks, veggie tray, fruit tray, beans, potato salad, buns....is there a grill at the park? hamburgers, hot dogs, if not we could get bucket of chicken....just some ideas. Sidenote....whenever I go to Cincy...I guess sentimental, but I always have to go to Frisch's, Skyline, and Larosa's if I can fit them in!! I get withdrawls;) !! Oh yes at the Chatanooga meetup someone brought a doggie cake for the puppies!!:) |
I did a quick check on Fairfield's site and found 6 parks that are picnic friendly. Fairfield also has that pets must be controlled which I believe to be leashes and that if your dogs go you need to scoop. |
Get-Together Dear Tatertot15, Having a picnic sounds great to me. I like the idea of a potluck, maybe grilling also. I would be glad to bring the hotdogs/hamburgers or anything else that is needed. Are you still thinking about the fall, so all the puppies will be old enough to socialize? Your area sounds central enough to all of us and would make it easier on you. Are husbands, etc., invited also? This is going to be great fun and coming up with this idea is much appreciated by me! Lisa and Piccolo |
1 Attachment(s) Good Morning :) I'm sorry, I just don't seem to be able to find the time to post very much these past few days. Honestly, Abby and Daisy keep me very busy. As a matter of fact, I'm getting ready to take them for a walk before the rain starts. About the food, a picnic sounds like a good idea! We could either all bring something or pitch in some money and let those close to the event site, purchase the food. Either way is fine with me, I'm sure those us out of town could find a grocery store near there or buy food to bring with us that won't spoil. Either that or bring drinks. I'm fine with whatever everyone decides on. here's the pic I took of Abby's new dress :) It's so cute. Sorry it's not a great picture. Have a GREAT Day, EVeryone :) Love, Tammy, Abby & Daisy |
I also like the idea of a pitch-in/ picnic.... and Fairfield isn't that far from me! I went to PetSmart in Cincinnati a couple of days ago and got excited when I saw the sign for Fairfield! LOL! |
Tammy~ that dress is TOO cute! LOL! |
