People, this is a personal decision for Alicia! Outside of this forum, most of us don't know Alicia and we don't know her Mom either. I'm sure she wouldn't have left Joey if she did not 100% know her Mom would take the best care of him possible!

Let's not make an already tough decision harder on her!

I never said her mom wouldn't do a good job. Im sure joey is in great hands. That's not the point I was making.

All im saying is that I wouldn't leave my babies with anyone (no matter how capable they are) when they are in need.

I also dont understand why she needs donations from YT members. Her fiance stepped on little Joey, so why isnt he paying for the vet bills?

As far as the vet bills go, this was posted by Admin...

We can not allow any posts that request donations for medical bills. If you want to directly donate to an individual, that is your choice and is fine by us. We are not against that at all and you may donate to whatever cause you choose.

But for potential liability concerns, and the fact that we can not possibly verify every individual's medical situation is legitimate, we will not allow such posts here on YorkieTalk.

Yes I agree, it is a personal decision. It was her DECISION to go on the boat. No one held a gun to her head. She made that choice of her own free will, and that's fine. I dont agree with her going and then complaining about the fact that she went, but hey, that's just me.

Well Heather, I was going to let it go, but you did say "correct me if I am wrong". Your opinion, which you are absolutly entitled to is not what is wrong. But your attack on Alicia, trying to make her feel guilty when she already had made a difficult decision was WRONG. Just because you would choose to stay home and alianate your future in-laws and fiance doesn't mean she has to make that decision also. Her yorkie is a responsibility, a big one. That is why she spent thousands of dollars she didn't have to make him better, and came right to YT for the love and support she deserved. May I suggest that you go back and read her earlier posts, hopefully that will give you some sympathy for what she has been through. It's not the CRUISE that was important but the fact that her in-laws-to-be expected her there and it could have caused harm to her relationship with them to stay home. Her responsibility was to make sure Joey had good care. Her mother is there, he is recovering and out of danger. Sounds like she did the right thing to me. You mentioned you have children so you must know how difficult it is to juggle all of our responsibilities at times. You have every right to your opinion, but please don't make someone feel like less of a mom for the choices that they have to make unless you are in their situation and know what they are going through. Someone else posted that they know you and you are a good and caring yorkie mom. I'm sure what you said was because you were so concerned for Joey and that's great. But, please keep Alicia in your thoughts also. What she is going through is not easy, she needs our support. Thanks!

Alienate my fiance and in-laws?

First of all, the FIANCE is the reason joey is hurt..or have you forgotten that? He should have been the one to tell his parents that they cannot go because of this situation.

I dont know how her relationship is, but my fiance and in-laws are very loving, caring, compassionate people. They would understand if we couldnt go becaues one of our babies was hurt.

I wouldnt wanna be associated with anyone who couldnt understand that or who would try and guilt trip me for being a good mom!

Yes, I do have kids, and I would never leave them. My kids come first. Before myself, my fiance, my parents, etc. I always have and always will put their needs before mine. Anyone who can't accept that does not need to be a part of my life...period!

I am my own person and I make my own decisions. I dont live my life worrying about what other's think.

Joey is with HER mother,,the person that raised her,, She went on vacation,, she didnt put Joey on the street corner, or a kennel, She will be back, Im sure she calls daily. Joey will be thrilled, to see her, and she will be revitalized after all the ups and downs she has been through lately!
Give her a break!

IMO I think we are all here, ultimately, to support eachother without judgement. I think Alicia sounds like a very caring and loving mommy, and so does Heather. Everyone has their own opinion and ways of mothering and that's whats so awesome about YT. We are all different but in good ways. What works for one person, may not work for another. I probably would have gone on the trip as well, because although her baby is sick (but thankfully recouping), by not going on the trip she would have sent the wrong message to the new in laws. They are not as forgiving, I'm sure, as sweet little Joey. Now if he didn't get the proper care he needed that would be a different story. But he did, and the lovely couple got their stress free time, and all is good. I love everyone's differences here because they always teach me a lot and help me make decisions.

Well said Teri. I think you hit the nail on the head there. Alicia did not want to ruin her relationship with her fiance and his parents. Joey is in great care with her mother, and as you can see by this thread, he is doing very well! I agree that we should not make someone feel bad about a decision they already feel guilty about.
