| ![]() ..........I would love to hear how some of you have protected your babies in the face of confrontation.....now that I have 3 instead of one I am more concerned than ever.....once when walking my yorkie w my girlfriend a white pitt bull came out of nowhere and charged at millee.....( I love pitt bulls but it turns out this one was raised by a guy who was in the newspaper and just convicted of a serious crime....so I'm sure he trained this dog improperly)...I was able to scoop millee up in a millisecond but then it went after my friends dog's throat....I lunged at him and screamed NO and stomped my foot and he looked up at me scared and ran away..........I still can't believe this worked but it did and I am so grateful we were able to protect my friend's dog.......have any of you had a similar situation and what did you do???? |

Lovin' 2 Girls Donating Member | ![]() Well, my first instinct is: Don't walk her...carry her everywhere! LOL But, they do need exercise, so that won't work ![]() An unruly pitbull is no small matter. I was actually held captive by one years ago. I had not been afraid of any dogs (love 'em all!) until this experience. I had gone out to my laundry room - outside my kitchen - and when I came out to go back inside, there was a huge Pitbull just standing there. I tried talking to him - he didn't move. I tried the stare-down. I took two steps toward my back door, and he took two steps forward. He never growled, but I knew that if I moved suddenly, he had me! We did this dance for about 15minutes (seemed like an hour!), when mother instinct took over and I just got ![]() ![]()

| ![]() Ohhh Abbies mom, what a scare!!!! I know my grandma always keeps pepper spray and a stick with her when she walks her small dogs. I dunno if it would help or piss the dog off more.

| ![]() THANK YOU, Turbo butt's Mom..........I think that is the answer I have been looking for........I can easily walk all three with the leashes in one hand and then have some sort of heavy stick in the other and pepper spray handy also....I have never had a problem where I walk millee on the bay because people who wlk there tend to have nice dogs but now w 3 I just need to be prepared for the worst for my own peace of mind.....thank you again so much and PLEASE thank your Grandma...........I love YT! |

| ![]() My best advice is to have all your babies on a good strong harness (I love Lupine's) and their leashes..if I see danger in a blink I can pick them up with the leash instead of bending over picking them up. I also stay well away from any large dogs as I am not willing to take the chance that they are friendly nor will I listen to their owners. I always cross the street or go in a different direction.

| ![]() on the news two nights ago, in NY(Queens) they reported 2 thefts of small furbabies. Two were stolen from a fenced backyard, returned a day later. The other, a yorkie, was being walked by an elderly man. A car stopped, driver got out, smashed the man in the face and stole the baby. I am more afraid of that then dogs, but now I'll watch for them also. The hawks, the thieves and misbehaving beasties OH MY!!! |

| ![]() It does make you feel like you want to wrap them up in cotton wool, but you can't. They do need to be excersized on a daily basis. The only thing you can do is keep them close to you, so that if a situation arises you can scoop them up into your arms. Also, if needs be you have to put yourself between the dog and your dogs as a barrier. You did exactly the right thing. |

| ![]() I keep them inside my 6 foot wooden fence, so nobody knows I even have them. I use to take them to Petco or Petsmart, but not after reading someone almost had their's stolen. I figure if nobody knows I have them then they won't be trying to steal them. I guess I'm just overprotective.

| ![]() I always walk my rotti and yorkie together. No one or no dog would want to mess with her mommy or her baby brother with her there. She's a sweet gentle girl but she is very protective when she needs to be. |
