![]() Most of the breeds used to create the Yorkie are extinct. The Skye Terrier is one of the few that are still around. When the Yorkie was being "created", there wernt many standards for breeds then. FYI The Skye does not have choc, gold, white or parti in its genetics.

![]() Not to get anyone mad just to get you thinking. . . . What if these early breeders of the extinct dogs blamed the extinction of their dogs on the crossing with other dogs to make the yorkies? (They weren't producing more of their own purebred kind) Sorry, I am a teacher and we always try to look at things from many different ways. Try to get the students to question things. (Have to be really careful about some topics in school though! )

![]() I think the people, back then, had many other things to worry about other than a dog becoming extinct, like feeding themselves and haveing a roof over their heads. Dogs were only used to benefit man like: hunting, retreiving, ratting/killing vermon, herding. Only the rich or royalty had lap dogs.

![]() We need to remember too that the original yorkies were not lap dogs either, but ratters. Many of our modern yorkies still have these tendencies

![]() What I meant by lap dogs was that only the rich/royalty had enough time on their hands to have lap dogs. Back then, that did not include the Yorkie.
