| I have a boy and I think his personality fit PERFECT into our family. He is such a riot, and then he is such a sweety. I have heard that males try a lot harder to please their mommy and they get really attached. That is what kinda helped me make my decision on a boy or girl. I don't know if it is true, but he turned out perfect for me! He also gets dressed up. He has an FSU shirt, a Dale Earnhardt Jr. shirt, a very nice black coat, and he even has a camoflauge belly band. Here is a web-site www.barkindogclothes.com There are many other sites too! The Belly Band has been a lifesaver for me!! |

| Boy or Girl? Can't your breeder take a picture of them both for you? I would always want to see the home in which I got my puppy from - very important. It is worth the drive. I like the boys better. Over many years of breeding and working in a vets office - the boys always seem closer to girl people and the female dogs seem closer to the men. It is not just me. I have heard others say this too. I love my male dog. He is altered. But I do not think that made a difference. He is my shadow and has been like that since day one. My husband gave him a lot of attention too and loved him when we got him. It just happened that he became closer to me. We also have a female yorkie and she is closest to my husband. If we are sitting on the couch - she is next to him and my male is next to me. Same thing in bed. Has this happened to anyone else out there? |

| When we decided to get a Yorkie puppy, we difinitely wanted a female. No particular reason, but we have had Pogo, a male dog for many years and thought it would be fun to have a female for a change. However, when we got to the breeder's house to pick up our female puppy, it was her little brother who let us know right away that HE was going home with us. He was the one who kept bounding over to us to pick him up. His tiny tongue worked overtime giving us kisses. How could we resist him? Today, Higgins is the light of our lives and very careful not to play favorites, though I think he totally worships his "Dad." They are all wonderful! Both boys and girls! |

| It's just like when you have a baby, you may prefer one sex over another, but in the end it just doesn't matter you love that baby just the same! If you have a prefereence go with it. My first yorkie was a little girl, I envisioned bows and pretty hair cuts, etc., but she had other ideas, she was the biggest tomboy you have ever seen, might as well have gotten a boy! I loved her dearly though. Lida Rose is a little priss and is so definately mommy's girl, she will hold her little paws up to be cleaned and she's only 9 weeks old! I like girls because I never had a daughter, but I've had boy dogs and didn't love them any less! Good luck and let us know all about your new baby! Windy and Lida Rose |

| I have noticed with the two females I have had compared to the 8 males, that the females are a lil more hyper/playful but, if you moan (say from a sore back, you bump your knee) the females are right there with concern and to comfort you with kisses. Little Mya is hyper when she wants to play but otherwise is a very calm dog and quiet as well. I think it is endearing how if a child will fall down she is there like a little mother to kiss away tears and cuddle, just like a female pom that I had in the past. Even if some one sniffles Mya is right there to check on them.

| It really is a personal preference and no matter which sex you pick, you'll still get the good, the bad, and the ugly. I think if you really are not sure, let the puppy pick you instead. Trust their instinct and never look back. You'll be head over hills in love before the next day! |

| I love both of course but it seems the males are more loyal about putting you first. The girls do their own thing and both boys that I've owned we're right at my heels or laying at my feet. They love their mommies.. |

| I can't say which I prefer since all my life I've had male pets. Brutus is the sweetest, rowdiest, affectionate dog ever! I'm getting him neutered July 6th so I hope he never marks!

| Sorry, I know this is a cop-out, but male or female, with a Yorkie, you can't go wrong! I have two male dogs now. My Schnauzer has never marked inside the house, but outside...Lord help my shrubbery!! But, our yard isn't fenced so other male dogs are in and out of it. Bo was neutered at 6 months and has never marked in or out. I love love love my mommy's boys!!! As for clothes, here are some things I have my eye on for Bo...there are more and more things out for boys all the time. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...ighlight=denim http://tinkerbellscloset.com/Browse_...Jersey_Harness

| This is only my first experience at being a mom to a yorkie, but I can tell you that my little boy is quite the "mama's boy!" He is so attached to me. My husband gets upset all the time b/c he can be holding Zeus and Zeus will reach for me just like a baby would do. We both spend equal amounts of time with him, but he is just attached to his mommie!! I don't know if this is how it is across the board, but I just love it!!!

Donating YT 14K Club Member | Personality wise, my male is so much sweeter than my female. Both are sweet, but he is a cuddly one. My friend's mother's yorkie is a male and he is horribly mean. Tries to bite everyone but the mother. Females, unless you get them spayed, you have to mess with the heat cycles. This can get messy and gross if you don't put a diaper on them. Males have the hike up the leg and pee on their hair thing. This is why I bathe my yorkie at least every 4-5 days because I cannot stand the smell of old piss. It's really up to you. My male has never marked in the house till yesterday when a friend brought her female over and her female was also trying to mark everything in my house. Well he found a spot and squirted all over it. But I guess that females can be just as bad as males in a new environment.
