| Should I rescue? I am considering rescuing a yorkie. I don't have a yorkie yet because I want to show, but I'm going to the YTCA yorkie specialty next week to meet a mentor, and from there, hopefully learn to show and eventually get a puppy. Until then, I'd really love to get one just for a pet. I've never rescued before, so I have many questions, of course. I really do like the idea of getting one from a rescue to give it a loving home, but then I start questioning it. Would you suggest I rescue one?? |

| Of course I would say YES, RESCUE! lol. But you need to be realistic in doing so. Many rescues have issues with being fearful, or have behavioral issues because of the things that have happened to them. I think the best thing to do would be to contact local rescues.. tell them about yourself and what you are looking for. What you can and cannot handle, and allow them to contact you when a suitable rescue comes in. Or if you are actively searching, ask many questions and be realistic about what you can handle. |

| I say go for it, rescuing is very rewarding but remember that depending on the circumstances you need to be prepared to put alot of work into her. Myself and my family rescued a 2 year old border collie x a few years ago. She had been abused, was very fearful and had had no socialization whatsoever. She did not even know her name. We have had to put years of work into training her and teaching her to trust humans again. She is now 7 years old and is the most loving and caring dog I have ever known. |

I am going to a show in a week to meet a lady who said she would be willing to mentor me. I want to talk to her first before I do anything. I don't know how long it will be before I get a pup to show, and that's why I'm considering rescuing this little girl. | |

| I think you should as well. But on another note I want a breeder because in pass experience its just too much of a hassle adopting. And, you have to consider any health issues and additional cost more than if you would have purchased your baby from a breeder. Medlodies

| i have a rescue now in my home she isnt a puppymill or one of those she was in a home and they allowed their older dog to attack her and her eye was mauled out and she was taken tot the vet and they got it attached and she looks fine but the owners decided they didnt want her any more they didnt want her becuase of her looks and so they gave her to my breeder who nursed her to health and took care of her and i know have her fostering her till hse can find a forever home, i personally think they are great and the one i have is awesome, i am lookig for her home with someone close to me or nearby so we can keep in touch and of course on yt since i can continue to see her but yes if you feel it in your heart that you can do it some people canot do it and cannot see an animal hurt or in pain etc but if you can find it in your heart to help do it

| I say rescue all the way. I do yorkie rescue and have adopted rescues my self which is why I do rescue. It is the most rewarding experience you will ever have in your life. To get a pup that was tossed out like trash and abandoned and bring them back to life and show them what a great life really is, is the best feeling you will ever have in your life. Just remember think about behaviors and personalities that best fit you and don't just look for best looking pup. Also think about what behaviors you can stand and which ones you won't stand for example: Biting, excessive barking, hyper, not housetrained, etc... Make sure you talk to the foster parents and ask them to tell you everything the good and the bad. I hope this helps you and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask me. |

| Rescue is my passion and I think very rewarding. The only thing you need to consider is if you are going into the showring how many weekends would you be gone. I think you could work through these things but I wanted to make sure you have thought about this down the road with your rescue. I never want a rescue to be treated as a second class citizen - none of them deserve what has happened and I want them treated as king and queens.
