Too big to be yorkie?

General Appearance:
That of a long-haired toy terrier whose blue and tan coat is parted on the face and from the base of the skull to the end of the tail and hangs evenly and quite straight down each side of body. The body is neat, compact and well proportioned. The dog's high head carriage and confident manner should give the appearance of vigor and self-importance.

Head:
Small and rather flat on top, the skull not too prominent or round, the muzzle not too long, with the bite neither undershot nor overshot and teeth sound. Either scissor bite or level bite is acceptable. The nose is black. Eyes are medium in size and not too prominent; dark in color and sparkling with a sharp, intelligent expression. Eye rims are dark. Ears are small, V-shaped, carried erect and set not too far apart.

Body:
Well proportioned and very compact. The back is rather short, the back line level, with height at shoulder the same as at the rump.

Legs and Feet:
Forelegs should be straight, elbows neither in nor out. Hind legs straight when viewed from behind, but stifles are moderately bent when viewed from the sides. Feet are round with black toenails. Declaws, if any, are generally removed from the hind legs. Dewclaws on the forelegs may be removed.

Tail:
Docked to a medium length and carried slightly higher than the level of the back.

Coat:
Quality, texture and quantity of coat are of prime importance. Hair is glossy, fine and silky in texture. Coat on the body is moderately long and perfectly straight (not wavy). It may be trimmed to floor length to give ease of movement and a neater appearance, if desired. The fall on the head is long, tied with one bow in center of head or parted in the middle and tied with two bows. Hair on muzzle is very long. Hair should be trimmed short on tips of ears and may be trimmed on feet to give them a neat appearance.

Colors:
Puppies are born black and tan and are normally darker in body color, showing an intermingling of black hair in the tan until they are matured. Color of hair on body and richness of tan on head and legs are of prime importance in adult dogs, to which the following color requirements apply:

Blue: Is a dark steel-blue, not a silver-blue and not mingled with fawn, bronzy or black hairs.

Tan: All tan hair is darker at the roots than in the middle, shading to still lighter tan at the tips. There should be no sooty or black hair intermingled with any of the tan.

Color On Body:
The blue extends over the body from back of neck to root of tail. Hair on tail is a darker blue, especially at end of tail.

Headfall:
A rich golden tan, deeper in color at sides of head, at ear roots and on the muzzle, with ears a deep rich tan. Tan color should not extend down on back of neck.

Chest and Legs:
A bright, rich tan, not extending above the elbow on the forelegs nor above the stifle on the hind legs.

Weight:
Must not exceed seven pounds.


Disqualifications:

Any solid color or combination colors other than blue and tan as described above. Any white markings other than a small white spot on the forechest that does not exceed 1 inch at its longest dimension.

The first one is a rather old picture of him (when he was 3) but the others are more recent.

Dont bother letting anyone who questions his size rent space in your head - he looks ALL yorkie to me and very healthy - when you think about the larger scope - what's a few pounds ? it's just more to love...

A friend of mine has a yorkie that is at least 12 lbs. and to me he is as pretty as any show dog. Beautiful face, coat, and structure. I raise yorkies and yes most of mine are under 6 lbs. I have and still have ones that are 2lbs. It's not that I breed for them it just happens. I do not and will not breed a female that is under 5 lbs. for her health sake. My males can be and are quite a bit smaller. It is a lot easier on the female to have 3 oz puppies over 7 oz. Also you can get a healthly 2 lb. I have been raising yorkies for 19 years. I have never had any problem with any size. You just need to know what their needs are and all are different. The smaller ones a lot of time will have to have Nutri-Cal on hand just in case of a sugar drop. That's not to say it can't happen to the bigger ones as well. Irregardless a yorkie is a yorkie . I think all yorkies are simply wonderful. I have one that is 18 she is my matriarch. Her B-day is the 24th of this month. Every AM I look at her just to make sure she is still breathing. Everyone tells me to put her down. Her vision and hearing are just about gone I carry her up and down the steps, I hand feed her, and yes she still gets her bath. She doesn't like that at all now. Congrats on your teapot. Your baby looks like a yorkie to me. My Cozy is 10-11 pounds. One of her step litter mates- The mothers were sisters who were bred to the same male is over 20 pounds.

Dayzee, my teapot yorkie, weighs 12#. Yesterday, I saw a #16 male at the vet's--he was beautiful.

Snooki's size never bothered me; I love the fact that I can wrestle him and snuggle him hard! I was just curious if there are others his size, and now I know! Yorkies like all living things come in lots of sizes! And they are all equally adorable!

I have one that is 18 she is my matriarch. Her B-day is the 24th of this month.

My Riley is 11 lbs and his little brother, Cooper, is 4.3 lbs. While I love them both to distraction, I must admit I don't worry about Riley falling or getting hurt as much as I do Cooper.

My mom has a 10 pound Yorkie named Haley-and she is the cutest, sweetest thing. Even though she is 10 lbs she really still IS small. When her and Avery are next to each other, it's so cute!! (my Avie is 3lbs) ALL yorkie-no matter how much they weigh!!
