| Doggy Day Care I work from 9:30-630 Monday-Friday. I leave Paddington at my parents' house, where there is almost always someone there. I can't stand the thought of leaving him in his kennel all day, and only letting him out for a few minutes while I'm on my lunch break, and my mom LOVES taking care of him. My mom follows my instructions pretty strictly, and has helped me train him from day one. My dad and brothers, however, do not follow my doggy rules, and it is making it so hard to house train Paddington! My mom and I get him almost completely potty trained, and then one or two days with my dad or brothers undoes all of it! For example, my dad thinks it's cruel to put him in his kennel. Soooo... Paddington has free roam of the house ALL the time! I came home today, and he was tearing up TP in my bedroom (the contents of my laundry basket completely strewn about, a fewchewed up CD's lying around, and my new magazine completely destroyed) and peeing all over the upstairs hallway... was anyone home...?.... NO! My dad left him out. He had been wandering around the house all day! I told him that he is like a toddler, and can't be left unsupervised. My dad said then I should send him to daycare so I AM! It would probably just start out as two days a week, to see how we like it and to give my parents a break (particularly my dad). This is the best place I've found so far- I think... It would be $18 a day. Is that reasonable? I am going to go look at the place sometime next week I think. What do you guys think???? http://www.montrosepetresort.com/?page=caninedaycare Thanks! -O

I am blessed to have a WONDERFUL in home doggie daycare caretaker for my girls. They are going there this weekend while we are out of town at a wedding. Our caretaker, Margie, has her entire house devoted to dogs. The yard is fenced, and she has a screened in porch with doggie doors that go out to the yard. She keeps beds/cushions and water in there for them at all times. That porch opens to the kitchen via floor to ceiling glass sliding doors, so they can come in and eat. There are all types and sizes of dogs there-from her 85 lb. yellow lab that she had to the 3 lb chihuahua-and they all get along without problems. Margie feeds them all separately, each their own diet, and brushes/cleans them up each daily. When the dogs stay overnight, they all sleep in bed with her! She will also take them to grooming or vet appointments if needed-how great is that?! The kennels/formal doggie daycares here are about the same price as in your area-but taking my dogs there does not give them the care and attention they need. And, Margie charges us significantly less than the kennels would-so it's a definite win there. I would encourage you to ask around and look around for an in-home doggie daycare-for us, it's the best thing that ever happened to us! You might also consider a dog walker, or someone that comes INTO your house to walk/play with your dog. That may save you some money, and may be more comfortable for your dog.

| We just had a new doggy daycare open up in College Station and they charge $18 for a full day of daycare and $10 for a half day (less than 5 hours). I plan to let Lacy go once a week or once every two weeks since I'll be starting vet school this fall. She's also going to go play where I used to work (dog boutique/grooming salon) a few afternoons a week..my boss has two yorkies and she can hang out with them. I would feel bad leaving Lacy at home all day four days a week too..

| I am taking Izzy for his first day of daycare on Tuesday. It will be a "trial" run. They charge $25/day. The "trial" day is $12. I've seen other daycares in my area for around $15-18 so that sounds about right. The only reason Im going with this one is because it is more convenient for me. The daycare is 2 min from my house. I couldnt find one close enough to my job. I work on the opposite side of town from where I live, so it is easier for me to drop him off in the morning on the way to work. Since it is $25, I will probably go with once a week.

| why waste the money when your pup can be around people that love him even if they are making training harder? I would much rather let my dog be with my family then some daycare. Just talk to your dad and advise him its serious and he needs to put the pup in the kennel when he leaves the house. Im sure he will agree sooner or later. And like I always say its better to have a little rascal then a little robot |

Thanks for the advice everyone; Right now I can't have a dog walker come because we live in an apartment that you need three different keys to get into. We aren't allowed to make copies or give them to non residents, and honestly I don't think we're allowed to have a dog, so it would look kind of suspicious asking permission for a dog walker to be let in LOL. I'm looking for an in-home care, but just can't find any. This one seems like they have a lot of time playing and exercising with other dogs and the staff there, which is why it appealed to me. Also, they offer other services like grooming and photography, and if I ever need to leave him overnight I can feel comfortable knowing that he is in a familiar place. It is pretty close to where I work too. I want to go see the place this weekend, but I have to go out of town tomorrow so I think I will go after work sometime next week. My boyfriend just made an offer on a condo that is closer to where I work, so maybe I'll be able to find a dog walker near there. We won't be moving in for a while though, as we have just started the process, so I don't know.... -O

| If you feel like what your doing is best for your baby then go for it. You can try it, and if you're not happy you can always try an alternative solution. Best of luck. Oh yeah, the site looks pretty good.

| Max loves Doggie Day Care. He gets to play, be with other humans, and, in general, has a wonderful time. He comes home dirty, smelly and exhausted. which is how a little boy should come home from a day of group play. There are some things you need to be certain of though. Max's Day Care does not walk the dogs! (Unless John is there - but I got him that job, so he walks Max for me). Not a good place for training. You've got a few options. One is a dog walker/sitter. They're very popular and pricey in NYC. There may be day cares where they will walk the dog if you explain your needs, or you might try to find a private person who watches dogs at their home. Good luck and be sure they meet your needs and are highly recommended. I originally sent Max to a place and then found out that a lot of dogs came home with kennel cough and other health issues. JUDY
