| ![]() Gracie was a Christmas present for my daughter and it was definitely too cold for her to go outside (she only weighed 15 oz.). We did train her to the pee pads---it took a while, punkie, so don't give up! Giving her a treat when she was "good girl" definitely worked, but she would have accidents every once in a while until she was about 3--but she was pretty much trained entirely to the pads by 4 mos. or so. Now we are so grateful she's trained to the pads because we can take her anywhere--throw down a pad--and she's fine. It's also easier when we're not home. She has the run of the house and always uses her pads if she needs to. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | ![]() I feel so sorry for the little yorkies that don't get the love they should get because of a few pounds. We are weight obsessed when we should be HEALTH obsessed - IF that darling little puppy is healthy then you're already doing way better than so many others that get new puppies that turn out to be ill. I wish him all the best and if you can't bond with him then it IS best you find him a new home where someone will love him for what he is. He's very cute - and those breeders do sound terrible - |

A good, reputable breeder will let you come inside, see the parents, and will let you see/ask whatever you want. They will have nothing to hide, and be proud of their facility. First thing I would do is call some sort of official and have him checked out. Usually if they are breeding multiple breeds and keeping them all confined in cages all day they are in it for the money and not to provide healthy babies. Also, there is no such thing as a "tea cup" yorkie. Health can become an issue when you go under 3 pounds, I hate hate hate when "breeders" try to breed as small as they can. Even if your pup gets to be 4, 5, 6, 7 pounds that is still so small! Having a slightly bigger dog is actually nice because then you don't feel like you have to treat them like glass. Another part that worries me is that he could "get you" a teacup...where does he have them stashed away?? Always go with your gut, it never fails you. If I were you (although I know it would be hard) I would have someone go check him out. My breeder was so good about having a good relationship with me, and we were in contact before my pup was even born. I would love up that yorkie you have. He for sure has a better home with you than this guy......good luck and keep us posted.

| ![]() If you read through the posts you will see that Punky is aware of her mistakes and we all make them from time to time and has decided to keep her pup.

| ![]() I only read this thread as far as page 3... my reaction is this- wouldn't it be great if here on YT there was information posted on a thread on how to find and buy a yorkie in the correct way? How to avoid puppy mills and scammers too. With the internet explosion, you would think it would be easy to find a healthy pet, but I think it can make it harder because so many unethical people can hide behind the world wide web. I wish punkie would have googled the seller's name before going out to visit. It might have saved the trip. There were so many red flags going up yet punkie proceeded. Maybe if punkie could have read up here on how to find a dog, it would be another step in educating buyers and eliminating puppy mills. Right now, you would have to read on a regular basis to find out info on how to find your dog and find it buried all over the place. It seems a lot of us find YT when we begin searching for a pet.

| ![]() I so agree Villette, a couple extra pounds just gives you just that more to love.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | ![]() There is HELP in the Yorkies For Sale Section - unfortunately - most people find this site AFTER they've bought a puppy or have problems - http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=45984 |

![]() We went to the bathroom a couple of times again yesterday and today and his stool is looking normal now. He also seems to like his food a lot and is his normal happy self. I think he just took a couple of days to adjust to the food and he seems fine now. ![]()

He has never gone to the bathrooom outside so far. Even though we've taken him out, he just never goes potty outside. I think he doesn't realize that he can go, LOL. As soon as we bring him home from the walk, he goes on his pads. He is getting used to going on his pads, but prefers carpet sometimes ![]() I think we will start crate training and see where it goes. He is starting to get used to his crate though. He goes in it by himself now. Thanks for the feedback ![]()
