How about Ralphie? I know it's a little strange but that is what I was going to name my yorkie if I got a boy but I ended up getting a little girl who I named Lola . I still have a couple of weeks before she comes home and I can hardly stand waiting. I am so excited!

Good luck with your baby! He is adorable.

Hey guys,
Sorry for the late post. Super busy day yesterday .
So we took him to the vet again to have him thoroughly checked out and he is super healthy and just a regular happy puppy. He has a really healthy heart and he weighs 1.9 lbs according to the scale at the vet's office. He was 1.8 on the same scale a week ago. She said he would probably be about 6-7 full grown, but according to charts online, he will be 4.5-5. I guess it doesn't really matter. We are just glad that he is healthy and happy considering where he came from.
We also got him started on his deworming and heart worm medicine and he is dues for his second booster on august 20th. Once he gets all of his boosters, we are looking forward to socializing him with other puppies. The vet said that there is a puppy socialization place down the street, where puppies just go in and play together. That sounds like it would be really fun. He is also having a stool sample tested but we haven't gotten results yet. We saw a bit of bloody looking mucus type thing in his stool just a couple of hours before we took him to the vet, so that was king of scary. They are testing it and said no news would be good news.
As for a name, my boyfriend and I finally both agreed on two, Milo and Oliver. We have been calling him both to see which one he likes, LOL. Yup, we're silly people . But it looks like Milo is the one that's sticking.
I just want to thank everyone on here who have been super nice and incredibly supportive and gave me a world of information. I really appreciate it Thanks to you guys now I'm a mommy and I'm really pleased with my decision

So Im not going to keep them on it. Im thinking of switching to that blue buffalo food. I can get that around here for cheaper. I'd rather go with Canidae but I can't find it around here! I read an article about how food and temperment are related. How diet affects a dogs training, personality and temperment. Canidae was on the list of top 10 foods to feed your dog for good traits.

One of my boys yelps in his sleep... I think he must be dreaming or something! It was really scarey at first but I got used to it. I just pet him for a min and he settles down and goes back to sleep.

As for playing/walking/exercising... let him go for it... it can't hurt him. Just don't let him jump off things like the bed, couch, etc... he could break a leg or as Ive heard develop luxatting patella over time. (that is something wrong with his knee joints I believe) get him some stairs or a ramp that he can get on & off the couch/bed easily on his own.

Good job with the harnesses!! I had no idea on that one. I did find out quickly with my first pup ... amazingly the STORE I bought him from (its a local pet store who gets pups from local breeders, not a chain pet store who gets pups from puppymills) gave me a collar and leash to buy for him. I had no idea and I bought them. I think I found out the next day after reading the book on yorkies to put them in a harness not a collar. So I went out the next day and bought him a harness.

Also, as your pup hits about 6 months, he'll start teething. I HIGHLY recommend you getting and indoor playpen for dogs, or an x-pen. Put him in that when you can't watch him or when you need to leave him alone. don't just gate him into a room, he'll eat the walls!!! I made this mistake and ended up with 2 huge holes in my walls that i had to have fixed. HAHA They will EAT ANYTHING you leave out... so put ALL your stuff away! My boys chewed through about 10 - 15 pairs of shoes, the walls, the baseboards, bottom of the cabinets, 2 beds, 10 harnesses & leashes, pants, bras, socks, laptop cord, $100 sunglasses and much much more stuff! Remember its your fault for leaving it out.. not his for chewing it. Thats how I got through that stage! Man it was tough!!! I was mad at myself A LOT for about 3 months!!! HAHA

I had my Dex fixed when he was 6 months old. He had uummm .. 'issues' so to speak, and I was sick of seeing the lipstick everyday.... the vet said fixing him should make that problem go away, but I had to wait until he hit 3lbs and 6 months bc he had a heart murmur and the vet wouldn't put him under if he weighed less than 3lbs for his own safety. His murmur closed when he was a year old (the lipstick problem never went away!!!). My fletcher is not fixed yet. I'd love LOVE LOVE to stud him out. I think hes BEAUTIFUL!!! I wish I knew a breeder (reputable of course) who would want to use him.

Anyways.... good luck with him!
Thanks for all the information. Really useful stuff. We have to look into getting him one of those play pens. Maybe we could use what we sued for our Dane before. It didn't have a top or bottom, but it was a like a containment pen like this one:
http://www.petsmart.com/global/produ...N=2035803&Ne=2
He used it to sleep in and fit comfortably in it. This little guy should have no problems fitting his bed, crate, pee pad, food, water and all his toys in it and still have room to move around.
Thank you again for the support and all of this useful info

my little boy had that bloody mucas around the stool.....it was only that he was sensitive to the food I was feeding (Royal Canin) That is a great food, however, my boy was just sensitive to it. I now feed Innova.

It's funny how people are still attacking Punkie because of the first post, and you don't have to read the whole 20 pages to see what's going on, I didn't. But if you see a 20 pages thread you can reply after just looking at the first one, you need to browse a little...

Unfortunately not everyone on here has been as nice as they could. Some people though, like Celstu1 and Ozzie's Person and others were really sweet to stick up for me. Honestly, I was really confused and bitter and resentful because of my bad experience with this breeder and all the nice and encouraging comments went so much further than telling me off in helping me make up my mind.

When we weighed him on our kitchen scale, which we thought was pretty accurate, he was 1 pound and 14 ounces. But at the vet yesterday he was 1.9 lbs. The same scale weighed him at 1.8 the week before. So I don't really now which one is more reliable. I guess there's no way to really know how much he will weigh. Although I don't think that 7-10 lbs is huge anymore, LOL. So it doesn't really matter.

The name is looking like Milo. My boyfriend still like Oliver better, but I think the little guy likes Milo
