| ![]() Punkie, there is NO WAY to tell how big your pup, or any future pup you buy, will be when grown. Gracie weighed 15 oz. when we got her at 11 weeks old. From her frame you'd think she should weigh about 3 1/2 lbs.--she's very short, BUT her body type turned out to be more stocky. She's probably a bit overweight but it's more her more solid "build"--she's all muscle and weighs close to 5 lbs. now even though she's still very short. |

Well, thanks for the support and encouragement. I do realize how much work a dog is. Actually, my boyfriend and I used to have a Great Dane. No dog is more work than a Dane... We had gotten him as an adult. He was huge (170 lbs) and so much responsibility and we loved him. Unfortunately he had heart problems as most Danes do and couldn't be with us for long. He was my babe and I loved him so much. His name was Kevin. I attached some pictures of him. My boyfriend and I love huge dogs and tiny dogs. I am thinking about this still, but I'm trying not to waste precious time for this puppy and trying to find him a home in the mean time.

if you are looking for people to support your feelings of denying a puppy your love just because he MIGHT get a pound or 2 too big...then you have come to the wrong place. if you are looking for people to help educate you and help you understand the real differences between buying a perfectly healthy small, medium, or large yorkie, and the differences between a healthy and unhealthy pup, or some people that LOVE the breed and will help you learn everything there is to know about giving them a great home...then you are at the right place. but there is no need in you getting upset because people can't support or encourage the way you feel. you are right, not everyone feels the same...and we aren't there with you to understand all that you are going through...but in a group of people who have a massive passion for this breed....you will not be getting many responses from people who support your thoughts and decision. again, i am not trying to be ugly, i do want to do all i can to help this puppy find a great home. i just want you to understand why people are reacting the way they are. this really is a great place. but it is also a place of diversity, and an extreme passion for this breed...as well as many many others.

| ![]() No breeder can guarentee weight...so what happens if you get a tiny puppy and by the time it turns 8 or 9 months it has a big growth spurt and ends up becoming 7-8 pounds or more?? This little guy COULD stay small as no one can predict size?? You can look at a 5 pound baby and say...that child will be a tiny adult or a vice versa....you are just never guarenteed...which is what I dont understand at this point reading the threads so far...he is very small now and could very well be a small dog...or he could be standard or bigger...thats just part of watching a yorkie grow up...I guess my question is how will you know your next puppy will grow up to be the size you want since there are no guarentee's...I hope you find him a new home soon before he gets attached to you...he deserves the best!! Thank you for the support. I read quite a bit about Yorkies. I bought 3 books on them way before I decided to get one. So I didn't really jump into this with my eyes closed. My life has gotten a lot busier in the last year than ever and I have no problems bringing my dog places with me. Although I'm not sure I could carry around a 7 lbs dog. Like I said, my arms and shoulders are not in the best health or shape. I read and have been told a lot about the fact that Yorkies need a lot of time and attention. I believe the same is true of any dog really. But no one needs to really worry about this puppy. I'm not a bad person. I would never let him go unless I found an immaculate home for him. If I cannot, then I will keep him. So really, no worries there. | |

| ![]() I also wanted to add that people breeding yorkies to be tiny like you want are not reputable breeders...yorkies arent supposed to be accessories you carry around for show...they are dogs...that walk...and can go anywhere with you..well anywhere any other dog can go..I just hate that people are starting to believe the standard of a yorkie is so tiny?? This isnt directed at you Punkie...I have just seen to many threads for people wanting T-cup yorkies that just dont exist..its a marketing ploy so people will buy yorkies that already are toy dogs and always have been...I suggest you go to a dog show check this link for show dates in your area http://www.dogbiz.com/dog-shows-can/...ws-ontario.htm and talk to a breeder and maybe check out a HUGE 6 pound yorkie lol...you will see that they are a very small dog still...you might be pleasantly suprised and you may also find a reputable breeder there too!! Good luck.. |

The thing is, I'm not getting upset because people are simply not supporting me. Since I have posted here about this, I have been called "shallow", "irresponsible", I have been accused of "punking" people, only considering my pride and have been attacked by more than one person. I would say that's a but more than simply not being supportive. I don't appreciate the name calling and rude comments and people putting me down for not feeling the exact same way as they do. People don't have to support me, but they don't have to call me names or accuse me of things I haven't done either. I understand the passion everyone has for their dogs and Yorkies as a breed, but they can have some respect for other "people" too.
