there is a section called "yorkies for sale" or something along those lines. I am not sure what the qualifications are for posting but you can read all about their rules and guidelines in that same section.

OMG...You have to keep him...he is adorable!!! What a sweetie pie. Im really sorry that happened to you but just think you rescued him from being harmed by that nasty puppy mill. I think that is more important. Good luck with him and keep us updated.

Default I think I just bought a puppy mill Pup :(

Punkie, there is NO WAY to tell how big your pup, or any future pup you buy, will be when grown. Gracie weighed 15 oz. when we got her at 11 weeks old. From her frame you'd think she should weigh about 3 1/2 lbs.--she's very short, BUT her body type turned out to be more stocky. She's probably a bit overweight but it's more her more solid "build"--she's all muscle and weighs close to 5 lbs. now even though she's still very short.

However if you are mad at the breeder, feel like you were duped and don't want to keep the dog bc of the way everything went down, well my biggest suggestion to you is this: all during life you are going to meet people who are good, honest, caring and kind hearted. On the flip side you are going to meet people who would sell thier mom to make a $, who don't care about others, who are lazy and dirty and selfish enough to try to do things the easy way, swindle others if they can. That is just a fact of life. You can look at this guy as an enemy who screwed you over.... or you can look at him as a jerk who happened to breed a pup who can be your best friend and constant companion.

When you come onto a board like this, and you say you are denying a pup, you outright bought, regardless of the HUGE RED FLAGS that you saw where you bought him at, and want SUPPORT from YORKIE LOVERS bc your pup is going to 6lbs and you don't want him... well to the defense of the WONDERFUL people here, this is not the place for you to come for support. The people here CARE about the DOG! And that is not exactly the BEST treatment to give a baby you bought. You are not mean or abusive, nothing like that. Since you are set on wanting a tiny dog you are doing the right thing by trying to find a home for this baby.

People are not mad at you so to speak, but if they are quick to judge its bc stories similar to this come up ALL the time. Its very very sad to see shelters and rescues and all those innocent faces of the pups who were let go bc they did not suit their owner anymore. Getting a pup is a MANY years decision. Its not something you just up & do (unless you are britney spears haha). There are ups and downs with owning any animal. Imagine you get your 3lb dog and he/she has health problems that prevent you from taking him EVERYWHERE?? Then what? You re-home that one too? I think that due to your busy lifestyle right not might not be the best time in your life for a puppy. They need downtime too, as much as some may think it, puppies are NOT cute little accessories that you tote around everywhere with bows in their hair and get compliements. Yes that is a perk but they are soooooo much more work than that.

Please think about getting another dog at this point... think long and hard about it. Its a 15+ year commitment. There are many MANY times I find myself at home with my boys then out and about bc they need me and they are tired from the action the day before and want to curl in moms lap. It would be this case whether I had one or two or a 3lber or a 10lber.

Just think about it! And again, good luck with rehoming him. He is precious and I really wish you'd think it through more before making a final decision.
very good post.

Well, thanks for the support and encouragement. I do realize how much work a dog is. Actually, my boyfriend and I used to have a Great Dane. No dog is more work than a Dane... We had gotten him as an adult. He was huge (170 lbs) and so much responsibility and we loved him. Unfortunately he had heart problems as most Danes do and couldn't be with us for long. He was my babe and I loved him so much. His name was Kevin. I attached some pictures of him.

My boyfriend and I love huge dogs and tiny dogs.

I am thinking about this still, but I'm trying not to waste precious time for this puppy and trying to find him a home in the mean time.

punkie, I am trying very hard to be as nice as I can and try and help you out. I do not agree with what is going on, but your mind is made up that you do not want this pup. so in the best interest of the pup, I think we should all try and help you come up with a way to find him a home where he will be wanted just the way he is. with no regrets. however, this last post of yours has me a little concerned.

if you are looking for people to support your feelings of denying a puppy your love just because he MIGHT get a pound or 2 too big...then you have come to the wrong place. if you are looking for people to help educate you and help you understand the real differences between buying a perfectly healthy small, medium, or large yorkie, and the differences between a healthy and unhealthy pup, or some people that LOVE the breed and will help you learn everything there is to know about giving them a great home...then you are at the right place.

but there is no need in you getting upset because people can't support or encourage the way you feel.

you are right, not everyone feels the same...and we aren't there with you to understand all that you are going through...but in a group of people who have a massive passion for this breed....you will not be getting many responses from people who support your thoughts and decision.

again, i am not trying to be ugly, i do want to do all i can to help this puppy find a great home. i just want you to understand why people are reacting the way they are.

this really is a great place. but it is also a place of diversity, and an extreme passion for this breed...as well as many many others.

No breeder can guarentee weight...so what happens if you get a tiny puppy and by the time it turns 8 or 9 months it has a big growth spurt and ends up becoming 7-8 pounds or more?? This little guy COULD stay small as no one can predict size?? You can look at a 5 pound baby and say...that child will be a tiny adult or a vice versa....you are just never guarenteed...which is what I dont understand at this point reading the threads so far...he is very small now and could very well be a small dog...or he could be standard or bigger...thats just part of watching a yorkie grow up...I guess my question is how will you know your next puppy will grow up to be the size you want since there are no guarentee's...I hope you find him a new home soon before he gets attached to you...he deserves the best!!

i really feel bad that you were mislead by that breeder and it has led you to here, but i really do hope you find him a good home so that he will be loved and taken care of.

best wishes.

Thank you for the support. I read quite a bit about Yorkies. I bought 3 books on them way before I decided to get one. So I didn't really jump into this with my eyes closed. My life has gotten a lot busier in the last year than ever and I have no problems bringing my dog places with me. Although I'm not sure I could carry around a 7 lbs dog. Like I said, my arms and shoulders are not in the best health or shape.

I read and have been told a lot about the fact that Yorkies need a lot of time and attention. I believe the same is true of any dog really.

But no one needs to really worry about this puppy. I'm not a bad person. I would never let him go unless I found an immaculate home for him. If I cannot, then I will keep him. So really, no worries there.

I also wanted to add that people breeding yorkies to be tiny like you want are not reputable breeders...yorkies arent supposed to be accessories you carry around for show...they are dogs...that walk...and can go anywhere with you..well anywhere any other dog can go..I just hate that people are starting to believe the standard of a yorkie is so tiny?? This isnt directed at you Punkie...I have just seen to many threads for people wanting T-cup yorkies that just dont exist..its a marketing ploy so people will buy yorkies that already are toy dogs and always have been...I suggest you go to a dog show check this link for show dates in your area http://www.dogbiz.com/dog-shows-can/...ws-ontario.htm and talk to a breeder and maybe check out a HUGE 6 pound yorkie lol...you will see that they are a very small dog still...you might be pleasantly suprised and you may also find a reputable breeder there too!! Good luck..

The thing is, I'm not getting upset because people are simply not supporting me.

Since I have posted here about this, I have been called "shallow", "irresponsible", I have been accused of "punking" people, only considering my pride and have been attacked by more than one person. I would say that's a but more than simply not being supportive. I don't appreciate the name calling and rude comments and people putting me down for not feeling the exact same way as they do.

People don't have to support me, but they don't have to call me names or accuse me of things I haven't done either. I understand the passion everyone has for their dogs and Yorkies as a breed, but they can have some respect for other "people" too.
